Hi,

well Friday is my weigh-in day, and it turns out I've lost 4lb this
week - only 98 left to go! My average cals for the week works out at
1550/day, and my excercise for the week was 2 aquarobics sessions, a 3
mile family walk and various short bike rides.

today I'm having my first 'hungry' day since I started changing my
eating patterns. I think maybe my subconscious is trying to say to
me, hey now you've lost some weight you don't need to keep on doing
this. I've made myself a bowl of popcorn to satisfy my 'munchies'.

I found keeping a food and emotion log when I was first making my
transformation was useful. I discovered, for example, that not getting
enough sleep the night before was a huge predictor on my success the
next day.

I was also able to pinpoint a bit better when I was choosing to eat as
an entertainment activity rather than choosing to eat to fuel my body
appropriately.

By identifying why you are eating you can fine tune the process. For
example, if you really *are* hungry then you have to figure out why.
Did you need more proteins or fats in the previous meal? Are you
getting enough calories at that time of day? (You may need to add meals
and drop portion sizes.) Or are you craving some specific thing and
you're not going to be sated until you have it? Keep some squares of
dark chocolate on hand for medicinal purposes! :-)

Hello Clarrie,

Your on a great start to shed those unwanted pounds. It's great your
implementing exercise and better eating to lose the weight. I think I'd
ditch the popcorn though, but if it works for you go for it.

Keep up the great work,

Paul

thanks Dally, I might try that. Actually I am tired today, my child
was up at 5 am, 5.10 am, 5.30 am ... etc etc

I was also able to pinpoint a bit better when I was choosing to eat as

I like this point alot, and it's something I hadn't really considered,
how much I use eating as a leisure/distraction activity

thanks

I used to love popcorn with loads of melted butter, but have now
trained myself to like it plain with just a little salt. It's about
the only snack food I have in the house now, for those times when
fruit or yoghurt just won't do it. (I even took my own popcorn to the
cinema last week)

Interesting variation: spray it lightly with Pam, shake on some
cinnamon, and a VERY small amount of sweetner (equal, splenda or
regular sugar). Got that from "Fergy." I do that once in a while.

Many people get a big bag of popcorn at the movies and without
really thinking about, have eaten the whole thing. Movie popcorn
is notiously loaded with fat.

I think she knows that because she took her own popcorn to the movies :-)

A nice way you eat popcorn is to sprinkle it with Brewer's yeast. I love the
taste and it adds extra vitamins.
