Default DaVinci SF Syrup at A&P

Tomorrow I'm going to a free outdoor concert and fireworks display at a
local park. A group of friends and I do this every year, and we all bring
food to share. Well not everything is LC since I am the only LCer in the
group. I know at least one woman will be bringing pasta salad for example.
So I make sure I bring something I can eat, and volunteered to bring veggies
and dip, and some cheese.

I ran out to the supermarket tonight to buy the veggies. I was tired so just
went to the local A&P. It generally has a crappy selection but it's the
closest to home, and no matter how bad, I figured they would at least have a
few veggies I could slice up and bring along. I'd already stopped at a local
place and picked up some really good dip and some cheese on my walk home
from work, so just needed the veggies.

Naturally they had all sorts of sliced veggie plates already made up, but
invariably they consist of about 50% baby carrots (which I don't
particularly like, and which are quite carby) and about 25% celery (LC
enough, but I don't much like it either) so I had to buy my own, which I can
slice up later. That was fine.

But as long as I was there I strolled the old cart past several other aisles
just to see if anything caught my eye. Well they had an entire end display
of LC goods! Mostly a lot of junk of course, LC baking mix, LC cookies, LC
crackers, LC protein bars, etc. Actually the cookies were pretty cool, made
with almond flour which is exactly what I would use if making them at home,
but every product I looked at did have sugar alcohols in them.

However, I was quite surprised to see that they also carried several
varieties of the 12 oz bottles of DaVinci SF syrup, the first time I have
*ever* seen DaVinci in a store, and in the crummy old A&P at that. They had
vanilla, raspberry, Irish creme, and hazelnut flavors. I bought a bottle
each of the last three (vanilla was just too darn boring). Hey, I think it's
a fine thing to see more LC options available in stores. In 1997 there was
nothing.

I was in Save On Foods this evening looking for DaVinci SF Syrup. No such
luck. Glad you were able to find them so close to home.

I usually stick with "real" foods and avoid the "low carb" manufactured
products out there on the market. However, I seem to be craving sweets
lately, which is really odd for me. It is usually hamburgers and poutine
that are my downfall.

But DaVinci's vanilla is divine. Not at all boring.

Poutine is a frech canadian invention. It is a combination of french fries,
melted cheese (usually mozza) and hot gravy. These days, in Quebec, there is
a variety of "ethnic" poutines out the the ingredients will vary if it is
an "Italian" poutine, a "Greek" poutine and so on.

Don't feel bad about not knowing what Poutine is, what with it being a
"canadian" dish and all. Canadian Television entertainer Rick Mercer (he
combines politics and comedy in his skits) tricked/embarrassed President
George Bush once. He mentioned that "Prime Minister Poutine" supported
Bush's endeavours. Bush mentioned that he was flattered and sent his
greetings.

Of course, there is no "Prime Minister Poutine" (a prime minister is the
equivalent to your President). It was pretty funny, from our Canadian
perspective.

You forgot to mention that that page won't allow you to back up or go to a
new site. I had to shut down my browser to get rid of it.

At any rate, poutine won't be on my list of must-have foods. G

There must be something wrong with your browser. That link didn't produce
any of the symptoms in the 3 browsers that I tried, internet explorer 6,
mozilla firefox 0.9, and opera 7.5. Maybe a computer friend can help you
with it.

Very strange. I did re-boot my system after that. Hopefully, that's all
it needed.

Thanks!

Same for me, but add Mozilla 1.7 to the list of browsers
which worked fine, which is what I normally use.

I run lots of blocking software so, if a site does something
insidious I might not ever see it unless I were to check
logs.
