Radishes
For those who haven't tried radishes since low-carbing... try them. I
used to dislike the way they tasted pre-LC, but now with my improved tastebuds, I've been making an effort to retry vegetables even though in the past I've disliked them. Anyway, this weekend I had some radishes. They were super! The texture so crisp and fresh. The flavor was good. I ate some plain, and dipped some in ranch dressing. What a wonderful cool summer snack. They're relatively inexpensive. I bought a large bunch of radishes for 50 cents (that was regular price, not a sale price). The leaves are also edible, I'm going to add them to my salad. They are low in calories and carbs. Here is the nutrition info for 10 large radishes: Calories 12 Protein 0.35 grams Carbohydrates 2.0 grams Dietary Fiber 1 gram Potassium 134.56 mg Folate 15.66 mcg Yum! -- Spring LC since 1/1/04 260/213/170 http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/spr...=/55b8&.src=ph Size: 24W / 16 / 10 |

Do you find you have trouble with heartburn after you eat them? I love the
taste of radishes, but I've been afraid to try them again because they used to give me such nasty heartburn. -- Linda 296/220/160 LC since Oct. 13, 2003 http://home.att.net/~lewis_linda/index.html "Sprgtime" wrote in message ... They didn't give me any heartburn.
Have you tried them since starting low carb? I haven't found anything that gives me heartburn since low-carbbing. "Lady o' the house" wrote in message ... Haven't tried them since low carbing. I'll have to give them another try.
Maybe if I tried the smaller ones. Thanks. -- Linda 296/220/160 LC since Oct. 13, 2003 http://home.att.net/~lewis_linda/index.html "Sprgtime" wrote in message ... They didn't give me any heartburn. Maybe if I tried the smaller ones. Try sauteeing/frying them - really good, no burps or bite. Taste a bit like potatoes this way. |

Radishes - good idea. They are inexpensive this time of year. Especially at
the fruit and veggie stands. "Lady o' the house" wrote in message ... Ooooh, sounds yummy! OK I try to resist writing a JC kind of response when I read posts like this, but it sure is hard sometimes. Radishes are on the approved list of 10% carbohydrate vegetables that anyone could have eaten during Induction and beyond. It seems that some folks may inflict restrictions on themselves never intended by the rules of the diet. Where the hell did you read anything about the OP restricting herself? She just plain didn't like the taste of them before! And now - she is experimenting. Not changing her dietary restrictions. Sheesh. |

I wasn't avoiding them because of LC, I was avoiding them because I didn't like the way that they used to taste to me. I think you misunderstood my first sentence. When I said for those who haven't tried radishes since low-carbing... I meant people who haven't eaten them recently because, like me, they didn't like them. But with new LC tastebuds, they might now enjoy them. -- Spring LC since 1/1/04 260/213/170 http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/spr...=/55b8&.src=ph Size: 24W / 16 / 10 |
