I agree that it is probably temporary. If you were woman you'd be used to
such wacko things happening to you. But I do agree about not drinking water, plus the salty stuff. Each weekend I work, and, due to the nature of my job, I do not drink enough and do not eat regularly - nor as much as I do on the week days. Each monday I show about a 2 lb gain which then happily comes off as soon as I get hydrated. I figure it's my body saying it's not getting enough fluid so it is going to hold onto the little I give it. Besides...aren't you still under your goal and didn't you allow for little fluctuations like this?? Not to worry. Elise. "Ignoramus16314" wrote in message ... I regained 2 lbs (223/178/180)... I blame eating too much extra fat in my diet (butter on bread etc). To be honest I am somewhat puzzled because I did not eat that much more than usually. Not quite sure where the regain comes from. i 223/178/180 |

"Jayjay" wrote in message ... Well - ya know - since I didn't weight this weekend - I'm up 2.5lbs since Friday morning. (or was it Saturday at 3am...). Anyhow - whatever - my last weight in was 2.5lbs less than today. But I fully know I didn't eat THAT many extra calories. For me its a combo of too many carbs, not enough water to counteract, and not enough bathroom time and the change in diet affecting my digestive tract. It will all come out in the end (so to speak)... :-) Give it a couple days of your normal eating and I'm sure you'll see it go away again. That's why we shouldn't obsess over daily weighins. Just watch for a few days and if it doesn't go away, take action. These things happen to all of us. Same here. Too many carbs, not enough water, up a few lbs... Some of the weight I'm sure is permanant, some of it will resolve itself with lots of water, and reduced carbs and calories, over the next few days... It still sucks to see the scale up so high... det |

It scares me to think that I'm always only a few short weeks away from regaining the lot - which has happened several times over in the past. Don't let anyone tell me it takes longer to put it back than to lose it, because in my case that just isn't true. Hope you soon see the back of your 5.5 janice 233/161/133 |

I'm curious...did you really eat enough in 2 days to account for a true
weight gain of 8 pounds? That would mean having to eat 28,000 calories over those two days. That's a LOT of food! That is the amount of calories I eat in 3 weeks time! I have seen major fluctuations on my scale, as much as 4 pounds in a day. It is almost always completely water gain and not a true weight gain. That is why jumping on the scale every day is a bad idea. Especially for women who can go up and down drastically in just a day or two depending on water, hormones, salt, etc. Melissa "janice" wrote in message ... This change in the scale really happened to me, but even I can't eat
14,000 calories a day - LOL! I guess a lot of it would be water, as when I binge it always means a high proportion of refined carbs and sugars. Once I've got the initial water weight on board, I could go on to gain 1lb of fat a day - a calorie surplus of 3.500 a day isn't hard to generate. I couldn't agree more about not weighing daily. I tend to get on the scales much more often when things are out of control - normally when I'm losing and sticking to my WOE I weigh monthly at the very most, to get the bigger picture without all the silly little temporary fluctutations. janice 233/161/133 On Tue, 30 Sep 2003 19:08:14 GMT, "Melissa" wrote: I'm curious...did you really eat enough in 2 days to account for a true weight gain of 8 pounds? Not quite sure where the regain comes from. unless it's water retention, it comes from consuming more calories than you expend. haven't you figured this out yet? |

It stinks to undo a month's worth of work in a couple of days and it's scary to outgrow jeans in a week. I'm glad someone understands! And to the poster who asked about food consumption vs. weight gain (as in, "did you really eat that much?") and mentioned salt and water retention, though I can't answer for Janice, it does seem easy to gain a disproportionate amount of weight "for real" (I've done 30 pounds in 5-6 weeks before). I am not so sure that my body thinks that 3500 calories is a pound of fat; I run 50+ miles per week and still gain weight (slowly) on 1800 calories per day, somehow. -Alison (sorry for venting) |

When I start regaining it's quite common for clothes I'd been wearing one week to be too small by the following week when they come out of the wash (and I don't mean because they've shrunk in the wash either) But let's not think too much about these things - I hope they're behind us for the moment. janice 233/161/133 |
