Default Ketones question

I am curious how long it takes to show on the Ketostix that you cheated.
Reason being, yesterday (AM) I was showing large quantities of ketones, but
I cheated and ate a few animal crackers yesterday afternoon. This (AM)
ketostix showed traces of ketones, but I just did it again (PM) and it's in
between negative and the first color of traces. If you cheat, does it take
a couple of days to show up or is it immediate? Cause I was hopefull this
morning when there was still some traces of Ketones, now not so much.

Everyone is different. It may be that you show more ketones in your
concentrated urine in the AM. Be careful with those crackers. :-) Can
you get rid of them?

My suggestion is that you stop using the ketostix and listen to your body.
If you rely on the ketostix, and you stop seeing a color change, you may
become devistated, however sometimes ketones just wont show up for one
reason or another.

Its a double edged sword. you use them to reassure yourself you are doing
things right, but if they fail to work for some reason other than you
cheating, you become let down.

It may not ever show up with just a few small cookies.

Being in ketosis is like being pregnant: either you are or you aren't. The
amount of ketones in your urine depend on many things, including how much water
you're drinking, what foods you've eaten (even program foods), how much
exercise you've done, etc, etc.

There are plenty of people here who have never used a Ketostix and have lost
lots of weight. Don't worry about what color the stick is - worry about keeping
to the weight loss program. You can see results whether the stick is pink,
purple, or totally unchanged.

Everyone is different. Different foods in your stomach will
absorb/digest at different rates so it depends on what else you have
eaten. Medication affects this also. Activity level too. Your
bladder also might store the evidence for hours. So I'd guess a very
wide range of time is possible from an hour or two to days.

It doesn't show up immediately. If you eat enough carb to take you out
of ketosis, it may not show up on a test stick until several hours later,
or sometime the next day, because when you refill glycogen, your body
starts flushing all the ketones in your blood to urine.
