@posting.google.com:

hello all ...

I got a wake-up call yesterday .. after years of being "a few pounds
overweight (okay more than a few ;-), the fates have decided that my
"extra pounds" need to leave or my pre-diabetes will become a roary
diabetes sooner than later or so says my ever-lovin' doctor.

Dang it! I was hoping for a few more years of decadence :-)

I'm looking to do this "shedding" in a sensible manner because I've
tried the fads and it's not worked.

Lower carbs, lower calories (nothing excessively low), moderate
exercise and a whole cart load of determination ... ?

I'll let you know how it's going ... mornings are always full of
determination aren't they :-)

more to come ...

Me too! (and I find it amazing that there are other me too's that
responded also)

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday, where I got the results of some
tests. I am borderline high for Cholesterol, Triglycerides, Blood
Pressure and I weigh 213 lbs on my 5'5" frame. - luckily nothing major at
the moment, but definitely headed that way if I do not get serious about
my health.

Last year I tried Atkins and I lurked on this board on and off for a
couple three months - I lost about 22 lbs, for some reason I did not
stick to it and I gained back those pounds. I am rereading the books
and trying to get serious about my health - I am 37 next month and know I
cannot keep living how I currently am.

I am finding it very helpful googling and reading past success stories
this morning to help me get motivated.

Thanks everyone for sharing your stories.
