Diet and meds
I have been lurking and trying to decide is weight watchers is the way to
go. I have two questions....I am currently on prednisone and my doctor said it was nearly impossible to lose weight while on this drug...anyone having any success. The other has to do with weight watchers. I was just at a webstie..throug a link from here...that explained the program including 'weeight to goal' how long you have to be at goal before becoming a free lifetime member. Please ell me where this site is... Thanks Carol |

To reach what is termed LIFETIME, you need to reach your goal (and
that can take as long as necessary) and then maintain that weight for 6 weeks. You are then Lifetime and then no longer have to pay to attend meetings. You are ALWAYS LIFETIME after that but if you go two pounds above your goal weight you have to pay to attend meetings until you are again at goal weight. If you do the online or other such programs, while you may reach Lifetime, you always have to pay for any of the computer options. It is only meetings which are free for Lifetimers. someone I think on this group said that eating healthier, learning new
habits and feeling better from these two will set you up to lose better when you stop the medications. It made sense to me at the time. So you go ahead and join, learn the program, learn the portions, you can get that all perfected so by the time you are done with the medication your habits will already be the to make you do really well, Lee bncnewman wrote in message ... Diet and meds
Boy, I hope weight loss while on meds is possible! I am on 5 mg prednisone,
plus about 12 or 13 others, and just had my second cortisone shot in my spine (first in Dec.) The worst thing about prednisone is the munchies! And I won't be going off meds. I ended up so totally wacked out eating yesterday, and once I started, the whole day was lost. Bad thing -I ate two meals out. Good thing - I didn't go back for seconds. Bad thing - Chinese/Japanese food on our malls are not healthy cooking and they give you enough to feed a small army. Good thing - I threw over half away instead of taking it home. Then I got home and got the munchies. Little of this, little of that. Sure adds up fast. So, I start over this morning. 1/2 bagel with low fat cream cheese. Hmmm, not too bad (even if it's not what I had yesterday morning). I bought a set of scales yesterday. Do you weigh daily, or once a week, or three times a day ;). Do you think it helps? (Probably should have asked those questions before I bought the scale, huh?) Have a great day! Sharon |

Hi Sharon,
It sounds like you've already had two non scale victory (NSV) by not going back for seconds and tossing half of your mall meal out. WW isn't a good thing/bad thing sort of diet. It's a way of life where you're constantly making adjustments in the things you do to become healthier. Yesterday was a normal day for you where you happened to eat out twice. Scales: It depends on how you want to weigh. Some people get upset when they see their weight fluctuate daily. Some people can only weigh once a week. I suggest taking your measurements because sometimes measurements are better milestones than anything the scale tells you. As far as munchies go, just have snacks around the house that you know the point values of or you know are lower in calories. I find that chips and salsa are a much better substitute than say chips and a sour cream or mayo based dip. I personally like celery and peanut butter (ok, pb isn't low in calorie, but it satisfies a lot of cravings for me). When you weigh out the peanut butter and only use a little at a time you can really get a lot of celery in you. I've been fighting off my munchies when I come home from work with salad in a bag because I generally am looking for something crunchy. I'll count the points from the dressing and go to town with the lettuce. Then if I eat the whole bag I don't feel guilty for eating over a thousand calories or whatever. I only weigh in once a week...same day...same time...usually the day before
we go out to each eat Friday...so I weigh in on Friday mornings and have all week to undo what I did that day..... "Sharon & Jack" wrote in message link.net...
