news segment on low carb diets
Pat,
Based on watching tons of people check in to this newsgroup complaining about stalls, I'd have to agree that a major reason for low carb diet failure IS failure to accurately count carbs. Think of all the folks who are slugging down cups of cream (thinking it 0 carbs) or eating a couple 22 gram Atkins bars filled with those questionable "net carbs" that stall so many people. And what about the folks who think Walnuts have zero carbs (3 grams of carb minus 3 grams of fiber as per the erroneous labels)? Then there are the folks who eat cafeteria chicken salad unaware that it's full of corn syrup, or who guess at portion sizes and get it all wrong, so that the 3 gram portion they think they are eating is really 12 grams and only a part of their dinner. I've eaten lunch with quite a few friends who told me they had just started low carbing who were eating things like a carrot and beet salad or a juice spritzer with 30 grams of sugar in it, blissfully unaware that they were not low carbing. The "low carb" plate at a nearby restaurant featuerd not only carrots and green peppers but a hefty serving of beans. Yup. Counting wrong is a major problem. -- Jenny Cut the carbs to respond to my new email address! Then there are the folks who eat cafeteria chicken salad unaware that it's full of corn syrup I found out last weekend from the guy at our local supermarket's deli counter that my favorite deli chicken salad has *brown sugar* in it! OMG. Cross that one off the shopping list. (No wonder it tasted so good!) - Anne |

Add to counting wrong...drinking wine because it's "dry."
And how many carbs are in "dry?" Get The Carb Counts Of Over 250 Wines. There's No Such Thing As "Average." Why Guess? www.drinkbeergetthindiet.com "Jenny" wrote in message ...
