Default Food & Exercise -- 10/18/2003 - 10/21/2003

Well, we're back from Pennsylvania. We had a good, though brief,
vacation with my mother-in-law -- had dinner at her home Saturday
night with Bob's brother and his sons (SIL was away on a business
trip), then took her to an inn in Buck's County for two nights.

As far as eating goes, I indulged some but not too badly -- never went
crazy :-). I had hoped to do some exercise at least one day and never
got the chance -- no facilities at the inn, and really no time without
taking it away from DH & MIL. We did do a bunch of walking on Monday,
including climbing lots of stairs at a museum. And we walked around
shopping a fair bit. And I used the stairs all the time in the inn
going to and from our 3rd floor room. But it wasn't much. Back to
the gym tomorrow morning, though.

Here's what I ate:

Saturday, 10/18:

8:45 (home): 2 poached eggs on 1 slice whole wheat toast w/ 3 slices
melted f/f cheese

12:30 (home): 1 can tuna (5 oz) mixed with 1 chopped-up apple and some
no-calorie blue cheese dressing

3:30 (driving to PA): 1 3/4 oz. ranch-flavored soy crisps

5:30 (MIL's house): 1 oz peanuts; 1/2 cup snack cracker mix; 6 oz
champagne

7:00 (MIL's house): salad made of 2 oz broccoli, 1 oz mandarin
oranges, 1/4 oz sunflower seeds, 1/2 tbsp mayonnaise; 3 oz. salmon;
1/2 potato w/ a little melted cheese one top; a few bites of orange
chiffon pie

Totals: 1623 calories (129 from wine), 57g fat (32%), 129g carbs
(32%), 124g protein (31%)

Averages for the week: 1547 calories, 27% fat, 35% carbs, 33% protein

Sunday, 10/19:

10:00 (diner): 2 fried eggs; 1/2 English muffin w/ butter; 1 cup
oatmeal w/ 1/2 cup 2% milk and 1 tbsp raisins

2:00 (restaurant): roast beef sandwich w/ 3 oz lean roast beef on 1
slice rye bread (didn't eat the other piece of bread)

6:00 (hotel room): 4 oz champagne (provided by hotel); 1/4 cup snack
cracker mix; couple of bites of caramel corn

7:30 (restaurant): fresh seafood (shrimp, crabmeat, lobster claw) w/
cocktail sauce; 4 oz filet mignon (brought the other half home --
tomorrow's lunch); 1/2 cup mashed potatoes (also brought half of this
home but DH will eat it); half of a small piece of flourless chocolate
cake (split w/ DH); 8 oz wine

Totals: 1570 calories (257 from wine), 48g fat (28%), 135g carbs
(34%), 96g protein (25%)

Monday, 10/20:

9:30 (inn dining room): a sort of eggs-benedict like dish, only with
sausage instead of ham and pumpernickel bread instead of English
muffin (ate both eggs and half of the rest); 8 oz grapefruit juice

1:00 (restaurant): 1/2 serving lobster bisque; salad w/ greens, duck
breast, pecans, raspberry vinaigrette, brie

5:00 (hotel room): couple of bites of caramel corn

6:00 (hotel room): 4 oz champagne

8:00 (restaurant): 1 piece of bread w/ butter; a sort of spring-roll
like thing with shrimp and mushrooms in rice paper; 7 oz salmon; 1/2
cup rice; 1/2 cup fennel; 8 oz wine

11:00 (restaurant): handful of small gumdrops

Totals: 1978 calories (257 from wine), 77g fat (35%), 156g carbs
(32%), 100g protein (20%)

Tuesday, 10/21:

8:30 (inn dining room): 2 fried eggs; English muffin w/ butter; 1/2
grapefruit, broiled w/ brown sugar on top

1:30 (while driving home): Subway 6" roast beef sub on whole wheat
roll, no mayo or cheese

6:30 (home): 1 cup Hi-Lo cereal, 22g whey protein, 1 cup skim milk

10:30 (home): 1 cup f/f cottage cheese

Totals: 1134 calories, 23g fat (18%), 132g carbs (47%), 113g protein
(40%) -- cutting back to make up for the last two days -- brings my
average back down where it ought to be
