Default Food & Exercise -- 4/6/2007

Fun day today -- spent about 4 hours at the conservancy doing trail
making. I hadn't done that before, so it was interesting. We're
making a new trail to allow hikers to circumvent an older one that is
being somewhat overtaken by a spring. We had a team of 9 people (all
men except for me :-) ), led by a man who's an expert in this. We
spent began with clearing the basic path, which had already been
marked off with flags -- lopping off overhanging tree limbs and
picking up debris. Most of the time was spent after this using tools
called Polaskis (a sort of hoe/axe combination) to hack into earth
(full of roots and shale) to make a flat path. We did this to about
80 yards of the trail (which is about 1/10 of the total distance -- so
there's lots more to do). It was pretty hard work but satisfying.
Afterward I hung out at the winery for a while chatting with visitors.
(Fortunately, my cold seems to be almost gone today.)

Food:

* 7:00 (home): 1 serving instant oatmeal w/ 22g peanut butter & 5g
flax seed
* 12:00 -- 2:00 (during work breaks): sandwich w/ whole wheat
hamburger bun, 3 oz. turkey meatloaf, 2 slices f/f cheese, catsup;
energy bar
* 2:30 -- 4:30 (winery): 10 oz. wine; 1 chocolate candy
* 6:00 (home): a few chunks from a small chocolate basket holding a
marzipan bunny & eggs (an Easter thing, obviously :-) )
* 8:00 (home): 4 oz. ground turkey breast burger on whole wheat
hamburger bun w/ 3 slices f/f cheese, dill pickle slices, & catsup

Totals: 1442 calories (190 from alcohol), 39g fat (24%), 135g carbs
(38%), 98g protein (27%)

Exercise: 4 hours trail making work
