Thanks for the compliment, moonprincess! I never thought I would be a
weight-loss inspiration for anyone.

I'm blushing.

Your remark about your clothes being too big sounded familiar. I'm

having
the same problem. Have you considered shopping at GoodWill, Salvation

Army,
etc.? You have to look, but you can probably find clothing to fit you

for
next to nothing. Plus, you can help them out by taking in your old

stuff.
I've been lucky to be receiving hand-me-downs from my SIL, and I've also
visited the GoodWill store and found jeans and shirts.

Frankly, I'm trying to refrain from buying any NEW clothes until I get

to
my
goal.

I have lived in the same area for 6 years now and I don't even have a clue
if there is even a Good Will or any kind of second hand shops around here.
I guess I should do some research and find out. I keep saying I'm not

going
to buy new clothes until I reach my goal, but I keep having to go places
where clothing is required! I at least was smart the last time and hit
Kohl's when they were having a clearance sale so I didn't feel too bad
getting dress pants for $5 and tops for under $10. I don't have anyone

out
here to hand me down clothes, but I have come to discover I can fit into

my
hubby's t-shirts, woohoo, my bumming wardrobe doubled! Thanks for all of
your great advice (now and in previous posts) Linda, you are an

inspiration!

Take care,
moonprincess

I would also like to recommend, if they have them where you live, Ross, TJ
Maxx, and Burlington Coat Factory (don't let the name fool you, it's more
than coats.) While these places are more pricey than thrift stores,
they're also less of a gamble. I routinely find pants, skirts, and tops in
the $10 - $15 range, and dresses around $20.

2. The negative and ignorant attitude that some people still have toward

a
low carb lifestyle

Yup, it's not only annoying, but it's kind of like people always attacking
you for a choice that you KNOW is better for you.
This is why, all along, I haven't told people I do low carb. I simply say
that I've cut out anything with sugar, corn syrup, or white flour in the
ingrediants.

I learned very quickly to adopt this way of describing how I lost weight.
After I gave the whole speil of "cutting out sugar, potatoes, pastas, flour
and eating more vegetables" if someone said, "oh Atkins" then I would say
yes, otherwise I would just leave it at the description. Of course I made
the mistake of telling some people I am doing Atkins and I got the whole bit
about how it was unhealthy and I was going to end up with kidney problems.
I immediately switched what I said when anyone would ask. I am not ashamed
of living the Atkins lifestyle, I just don't want to bother with ignorant
people.

snip

I still get this, when asked if I'm doind Atkins, I say no
Neanderthin. This usually leaves them puzzled!

4. A few evenings I have experienced leg cramps

In addition to my multi-vitamin, I take a calcium/magnesium/zinc

supplement
(as someone here suggested to me when I complained of leg cramps). That

has
completely eliminated my cramps.

I will have to look into this. I have not had the legs cramps very often,
but it is annoying when I do get them since I never had them pre-LC. I'm
reading the chapter on vitanutrients in DANDR now so I'm going to try to see
how I can tweak my supplement intake. Right now I take a One A Day
CarbSmart multivitamin and that's all.

I started taking Trader Joes multivitamin when the leg cramps started
after longish bike rides, cured the problem for me, YMMV.

Great post. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Spring, for all of your great posts!
