That's what made you fat (among other things) i 1. I said I KNOW not to use food as a reward 2. If so, would you please share with the group what it is you have done for yourself or given yourself along the way. I didn't give myself anything until I was 20 lbs. down, and I KNOW food is not supposed to be a reward, but I used it anyway! This is what I have done so far: -20 lbs. One can of diet pop (caffeine free diet pepsi). I had only been drinking water up until then. Let me tell you, it was the best tasting pop I had ever had! I only drink it occassionaly now, which is pretty good considering I used to drink at least a couple cans a day. -25 lbs. One cup of decaf coffee. Just so happens that was the best cup of coffee I had ever had! I have about one cup of decaf a week now. Those were the only two food rewards I used. -30 lbs. I treated myself to a new haircut and style. I had 11 inches cut off and donated it to Locks of Love. This was the first time my husband had ever seen me with short hair, ever! Of course we have only been married for 3 years, but we have been together for 7, so that was quite a shock for him. -50 lbs. New Clothes! I ended up with 3 light sweaters, 4 cotton tops, 2 polo type tops, 1 pair of jeans and 1 pair of dress pants. Plus we went out with a group of friends for drinks, so that was a little reward too. I have not done any rewards since then. I guess at -75 lbs. I'll come up with something since I will then be at 3/4 of my goal. Just not sure what that will be at this point. Take care, moonprincess |

I didn't have much in the way of milestones because I didn't have that much to lose, but every week I'm eating this healthier diet, I buy myself flowers as a reward. Daria 166/under 145/under 145 sugar-free since 2/1/04 low-carb since 2/17/04 I've lost over 90 pounds at this point. I did "rewards" or "treats" at rather large milestones - every 20 pounds or so - for awhile, but have stepped it up to every 5 pounds now, because things have significantly slowed down. My rewards early we an expensive book that I wanted; a facial at a very posh spa; a new leather jacket. Now that I'm doing them at every five pounds, and there are more of them (I still have quite a way to go) I'm doing this: at every milestone that ends with a 5, I get a professional manicure. At every milestone that ends with a 0, I get a professional pedicure. At every 20 pound mark, I get the combo. When I hit the next biggie (for me), which will be the weight I was when I was in my 20s, I'll go and have a spa day. I never use any kind of food or drink as a reward, personally. I feel that I can't do that and keep going. YMMV, of course. -- Nancy Howells (don't forget to switch it, and replace the to send mail). |
