Default Ketosis in less than 36 hours

I have been lifting weights for the past 4 months. I decided 2 days ago that
I wanted to lose a little of the flubber so that muscle definition could be
seen, and read up on low carb diets. I am currently 198lb, and roughly
20-25% body fat.

So on that day (Wednesday) , my last carb meal was at 2:30pm . At 6pm, I had
a steak (cow) roughly 200grams, and one egg, with a little bit of tomato
sauce (3g carb per 15ml). At 9pm I had fried chicken (150-200grams) with 2
slices of cheese. At 12am I had a protein drink (WPI) with water which had
20 grams of protein. Then I went to sleep.

On Thursday at 10am I had 2 eggs and 2 strips of bacon. 10:30am I had
another protein drink. Then I didn't eat at all until 6pm. Strangely I
didn't feel the same hunger pains as I usually would after not eating so
long. At 6pm I had a slice of cheese and my protein drink. Then at around
9pm I had 2 chicken burgers (4g carb each). I then cooked some lowcarb
cookies i got from the shop in my oven, and had 2 of them. They contain
roughly 2g of carb each. And that was it for Thursday eating wise.

At 12am I tested for ketosis in my urine using the keto sticks, and it
showed a large amount was in my urine. One notch under the maximum amount.
Now, can I assume I am in ketosis or was it due to the fact I didn't eat for
7 hours? I would have thought it was because I didn't eat, but your body
doesn't keep burning fat when you have not eaten for a while, then you eat
2-3 meals, or does it? I felt kind of woozy on the first night and during
thursday due to no carbs, but I feel fine now (mid Friday), slightly "sore"
if that's the correct term in my muscles. They feel kind of blunt or lazy,
if thats a good word to describe it. I've probably had around 30g carbs in
48 hours so far.

I also feel like my sleep last night was good, but not sure if that's
related to the low carbs or not. When I first started the low carb diet, the
very first low carb meal I had in fact, I was feeling very hungry due to not
eating for around 3-4 hours (my last meal was roughly 80g carbs). So my own
theory is due to my hunger when starting, and the fact I missed another 7
hours the next day of not eating, my glycogen stores were low, and it took
less time to enter ketosis. I also walked a bit on Thursday, which might
have also helped.

I am currently in my "off week" of my HST cycle, where you rest for 10 days
after doing 8 weeks of weights, 3 times a week. So hopefully when I get back
into my weights on Monday, I will be able to do them as well as I have
before.

I'll report back later with some more results.

A low-carb diet does, for most people, result in a loss of hunger and then
weighjt loss, which, for people wanting to lose weight, is good.

You are working out, and that's good. In fact, being overweight is
dangerous, but depriving yourself of food can be even more dangerous. Make
sure you feed yourself well. I think you are on the right track!

You had better start eating some veggies or something with fiber in it or
you're going to be really sorry you didn't in a few days.

Yeah I didn't mention I had the steak with onions, and the chicken burgers
with onions and brussel sprouts. I still need to eat more, just hard
digesting them with nothing else, if you know what I mean.

I have multivitamins everyday, and I'll be going to grab some flax seeds for
more fibre. Flax is like 25% fibre, so it works out nice.

Where the bloody heck are your veggies? Low-carb does not mean all meat and
cheese. You're going to be a VERY unhappy (and probably not too healthy)
camper if you don't start getting some good low-carb veggies in there
several times per day...

Peace,
Pen

And high into omega 3 fats, which supposedly is good.
