Default Shopping last night (long)

DH and I were out and about last night, and I just had to share this with
you all. We went into Fashion Bug, my favorite place for affordable and
fashionable clothes, so I could pay on my charge. I told him that I just
wanted to look around and maybe try on some things for size. (I've recently
been wearing size 16w pants that are hand-me-downs and big in the seat and
thighs, so I wanted to try brand new stuff to gauge how I've been doing.)
I'd picked out a size 16 in my favorite style of jeans (also cheap at $19.99
a pair). I took them back to the fitting room and they were snug, but they
fit. While I was in the dressing room, DH had picked out some tops for me,
size 14/16 and he sent them back. So, after putting on the new stuff, I
went out to the three-way mirror to check out how it looked.

I just about started to cry, but not tears of shame or frustration. For the
first time, I got a good look at how far I've come on this journey. Now, by
no means would anyone call me 'skinny,' though sometimes my friends and
family call me that. But I could see myself looking MUCH slimmer,
healthier, and HAPPIER than this time last year. Almost a year ago to the
day, I was in the same store and I bought women's size 26/28 and some 30/32.
Last night, 14/16!! It just really blows my mind!!!! :-O

So I went ahead and BOUGHT those jeans (they'll fit perfectly soon enough!)
and those blouses (one pink and the other red). But, even better: I
rewarded myself for how far I've come and bought a gorgeous, long, mottled
black/gray/white boucle sweater (with two clasps in the front and yarn
fringe around the neck and cuffs.) It's beautiful, and I fell in love with
it. When I picked it up and looked at the price ($44.99), I cringed, but DH
told me to go ahead and get it as a reward to myself.

I really feel grateful to all of you. If I hadn't found this support group,
I still would have been doing 'low carb,' but I don't think I would be as
far as I am now. So, big thanks to Carol Ann (for those wonderful
challenges), Saffire, Carol(Damsel), Jim, Roger, Curt, Cubit, DJ,
Ignoramous, and all you other ASDLC posters! And, also, to JC, wherever you
are. I'm not '100 pounds down' yet, but I'm very close. I'd bet you didn't
think I'd do it! ;-D

I'll post pics of my new outfit on my site next week.

That is so cool! I'm so happy for you, and I'm happy that I can actually say
that "I know what you mean" LOL! This week I bought the first piece of clothing
I actually LIKE in a decade. Not the least expensive thing that fits and isn't
completely horrible, but something I really, really like that looks good too! I
had forgotten how that feels. It feels GOOD, LOL!

I just about started to cry, but not tears of shame or frustration. For

the
first time, I got a good look at how far I've come on this journey. Now,

by
no means would anyone call me 'skinny,' though sometimes my friends and
family call me that. But I could see myself looking MUCH slimmer,
healthier, and HAPPIER than this time last year. Almost a year ago to the

I don't know about you, but for me trying on clothes before was always the
biggest hassle and I hated doing it. I think what I hated the most was
looking at the size tag inside and dreading that I would have to move up to
the next size. I was an 18W/20W for many years and then pretty soon I was
having to buy the next size larger and then the next size until I reached
26W/28W top and 20W pants. I reached the point where I never wanted to go
anywhere or do anything because I hated the way I looked, was completely
embarassed and didn't think I had the willpower to do anything about it. In
March I finally reached my breaking point, realized I had an eating problem
(I was eating food for comfort not nourishment and I was also hiding the
amount of food I was eating from my husband) and decided now is the time, I
was ready to take care of it. The only time I have deviated from my plan
was one week in May for vacation and there was no way I was going to pass up
on all of the great food in Vegas (especially since most of it was comped),
but of course I paid the price (+10 lbs in that week, sheesh). As soon as
we returned, I got right back into the swing of things and have been going
ever since. At the -50 lb mark I went out and purchased some new clothes
and I actually had fun doing it! Hated that I would have to buy clothes
that I knew I wouldn't get a few years worth of wear, but knew I had to get
some articles if I wanted to go out in public and not look like a slob.
Once I started trying on clothes and having to go back and grab a smaller
size there was no stopping me. I was just having so much fun and figured I
deserved new clothes! Plus they were all on sale or on clearance sale so it
wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

So I went ahead and BOUGHT those jeans (they'll fit perfectly soon

enough!)
and those blouses (one pink and the other red). But, even better: I
rewarded myself for how far I've come and bought a gorgeous, long, mottled

You definitely deserve to be rewarded, you have made such awesome progress
so far! I can't wait to see a pic of you in your new sweater, it sounds
absolutely beautiful.

Also, I don't know if you realized it or not, but in your progress pictures
it looks like you posted a picture of yourself in the first one and a
picture of a younger sister in the second one. What a difference! Keep up
the great work!

WOW! Thanks for that compliment, moonprincess! No one has ever said that
to me before, and I never did realize it until you mentioned it and I looked
at it again. That feels really great as I am a little over a month until my
big 4-0! LOL! I certainly don't mind looking younger!!!
