SBD and headaches?
I''ve started South Beach Diet and am on Day 5. I have been drinking a lot
of water and tea, exercising moderately and have been eating a fairly regular intervals so as not to get famished. For the past two nights I have gotten excruciating headaches. Has anybody else heard of or experienced headaches while on the beginning stage of SBD? Is it a result of sugar / carb withdrawal? Thanks. Teri |

My workout partner had the same thing and by day 4 she felt fine. Jenn |

You know, if you stopped acting like you knew everything and actually read the book, you'd find out that the diet advocates pretty much the same things you claim to, only in a more structured format. Thanks. Do you have any other symptoms? If the headache is too bad, I would visit a doctor (duh). What exactly do you eat? I remember that Dr Atkins warned of headaches for those who go on the Atkins induction, could be similar. I would not expect that headache to be "excruciating" though. Well, I don't have experience of SBD, but the headaches I've had in the past when giving up coffee or coming down from a high sugar diet to one with almost none are so bad they don't respond to any painkillers. In my experience, you just have to go through a couple of days of what I would call "excrutiating" pain and then your body adjusts. janice |
