Sleeping problems?
Exercise. It fixed my insomnia. Also getting off hormone replacement therapy helped because it was giving me insomnia every 28 days. Luckily I'm not having night sweats any more. The other issue with exercise is that it helps manage stress and sometimes stress causes insomnia. Also cut back on caffeine and alcohol. Caffeine of course is a stimulant. Alcohol has two problems. One is that it's a diuretic so it could be getting you up at night to go to the bathroom. The other is that when your blood alcohol level drops, you're less anesthetized and it can wake you up. ultrasoni_c wrote: Hello group, This might be a little off topic but I'm sure someone knows about it. Maybe there is something I can add to my diet ot any herbs? thanks, tim |

I have a hot bath, put my flannel jammies on, recline on my lazyboy with my vibrating matt - sip my tea, read a good book. This works for me - these days. When I was hit with really bad insomnia earlier this fall, I had no qualms going on prescribed meds - my stress level was high and I couldn't manage it alone. And I simply cannot function without 7-8 hrs of sleep, so I felt it was detrimental to my well-being. det |

Sleeping problems?
Hiya Tim,
Warm milk is an old standby. Also, eating carbs before bedtime may help. No intense exercise before sleeping. Usually recommended: have the same bedtime routine every night. Go to bed at the same time every night. Use the bed only for sleep (and sex) - not for reading, TV, etc. Get rid of any rats in ur residence (my current problem). Sleeping problems?
Same for me JayJay. I work myself into exhaustion everyday and walk
regardless of the weather right now. I fall into bed everynight and don't even remember falling asleep. Alarm at 5:30 goes off WAY too soon. I also contribute it to my better eating too. No nighttime indigestion etc. Susan 260/202/160 --- 2month 1weeks 5days 13:07hours of being smoke-free, 2,946 cigs not smoked, $545.01 saved, 1wweek 3day 5:30hours of my life saved "JayJay" wrote in message ... do you exercise? Sleeping problems?
Im only 23. I stopped drinking coffee and teas. I was really surprised one
day (I had only slept 4 hours the previous night), I couldn't sleep till 3 at night. I work out almost everyday. I think it's just temporary, but I better do something about it before I start missing more classes and show up late at work. Thanks everyone for the replies. --tim In article Xj0vb.441804$9l5.49993@pd7tw2no, ultrasoni_c wrote: Hello group, This might be a little off topic but I'm sure someone knows about it. Do you have trouble falling asleep? How old are you? Some things that help are not drinking tea or coffee, an hour walk in the evening. Also valerian root is a very good herbal calming down medicine with zero side effects, no addiction, and is very effective. i |

Sleeping problems?
"Studies on anorexics show that at the beginning of treatment, although they
were bieng fed a good diet but were still very thin, they tended to fall asleep normally but wake up very early and were unable to get back to sleep. As their weight increase,d the length of time they stayed asleep gradually increased abd by the time their weight was normal, so was their sleep... Never go to bed hungry, and never go to bed on an over-full stomach. Too little food and that gnawing pang in the pit of your stomach will certainly make sure that you have a restless night of fitful sleep. Too much and you will suffer indigestion, heartburn, flatulence and again a distrubed night.... You won't sleep if you're hungry" - Straten, Michael, "The Good Sleep Guide", pp. 118-119. There's more in there, in a chapter entitled "Fat People Sleep Better; Dieters Lose Sleep as well as Weight". I don't really have time to type out more of it. Should be in a library somewhere if you want to get hold of it, although I wouldn't recommend the text unconditionally - Straten is an advocate of "natural therapies", a regular writer for trashy women's mags, and has no medical degree that I can see. And all those things make me suspicious, cos I'm a prejudiced, misogynistic white male Cheers, - Tom ultrasoni_c wrote in message news:Xj0vb.441804$9l5.49993@pd7tw2no... Sleeping problems?
23? My son (21) stays up all night and sleeps during the day. You
might try going to bed 1/2 later each night until you sleep through. My guess is that your alter-ego will soon post a website selling just the product you came here to spam us with. :-) Wendy, not fresh off the turnip truck |

Well, aside from the exercising and eating correctly (which have worked wonders for me)... Melatonin works great. Do a google serach for it. Read up on it. You don't want to take it all the time, though (even though it says you can on the bottle). You can probably find it at a health food store. I don't take it, but my wife does some times, and it knocks her out. It is used, in some cases, to change peoples sleep patterns. I wish I had known about it when I used to travel to Japan for a month or so, then come home. Many, many sleepless nights then. |
