Default weekly weigh-in report - I lost my first stone!

hi there

Friday is my weigh-in day. My new eating regime has faltered a little
this week. On Saturday I ate far too many pistachio nuts (remind me
to go to my other half's boring works' parties again) and on Wednesday
I met up with an old friend and over-indulged in beer and curry.

So I got on the scales this morning with some trepidation, expecting
to have only lost a pound (or 2 at most) - but yay I have lost 3 lb,
meaning that in total I have lost a stone (14lb) since I started.

My average calories this week works out at 1945 per day. Excercise
has been a family walk, 1 aquarobics session, 1 swim and several bike
rides of varying lengths.

I am starting to see that I may just have cheek bones! and I'm going
to have to get a belt, one pair of trousers is now too big for me.

What do you all do about clothes as you lose weight? I can't afford
to buy a whole new wardrobe each time I drop a dress size or 2.

love

Congratulations Clarrie! Maybe that boring work party did some goodg

Now about the clothes problem. Many in the group suggest shopping at second
hand clothing stores for the clothes you wear during your weight loss
phases. We have several of this type of stores in my area and they carry
nice clothing. I've often used them for those special dresses you only wear
once or twice.

You're making great progress. Keep it up.

Hi Clarrie,

Congrats on the loss!

Anyway, I have been buying my clothes at discount stores, like Walmart or
Target. I buy 2-3 nice business things to wear for work and
jeans/shirts/sweaters at the discount stores. I don't have very many
clothes to choose from right now. I buy the clothes a little tight so that
I can wear them longer. I see that Beverly recommends a 2nd hand clothes
store... that is also a good idea. I go to stores like that but can never
find anything that I like. It may be because they don't have the best full
figured selections. As I move to smaller sizes (slowly but surely), I may
buy more from them.

Best wishes!

Hello Clarrie,

Great job on the recent three pounds you've lost. As far as the clothes
thing goes I would recommend a second hand store like Bev stated. Some of
them have some very nice clothes at very reasonable prices.

Good luck on reaching your goal and keep up the good work,

Paul

Clarrie - you're doing well - congratulations on the first stone.

I just noticed your posting name - I assume you're an Archers fan?

Congratulations on the lost stone, Clarrie!

As far as wardrobe goes, I just use it as an excuse to buy more
clothes. But this isn't the most economical approach :-).

thanks, Beverly :-) and thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately
the second hand/charity shops near me don't seem to have much stock in
larger sizes

I'm hoping that too. I get so jealous of my friend who gets some
brill bargains in 2nd hand shops, they have so little in my size. I
suppose I'll just have to get used to having less clothes to wear for
a while. Being able to buy 'main stream' sizes is one thing I'm
looking forward to. I always hate clothes shopping, but maybe that's
because at the moment it's so hard to find anything I like in my size.
