Default Last night's exercise

A few weeks back I posted about my dissappointment when I realized
that my son's soccer practice wasn't going to be at the Y, but about
10 miles away at a sports park. That meant my hopes for using the
gym for a weight workout during practice was pushed off to the
wayside.

The park is in the midst of a rather run down neighborhood. I'm not
saying its not safe, just very run down. and it leads into an older
run down industrial park. Last night I attempted to go for a jog,
(I'd missed my morning workout and needed the cardio anyway).

Well, let me tell you, not a pedestrian friendly area of town. No
sidewalks, no bike paths, and in many spots even the white line that
signifies the edge of the lane is gone. The edge of pavement is very
jagged. The earth that is next to the road is very uneven and full of
holes. I walked the road for 25 mins last night, tried jogging a
bit, but was too afraid of busting my ankle or knee in one of the
potholes or something. And let me tell you, the drivers down this
road give no leaway to pedestrians, At times I had to walk at the
edge of pavement, and the cars were going by inches from me. (mind
you this is a little 35mph 2 lane thru street, there was a decent
amount of traffic, but whenever a car passed me, there was never a car
coming at them in the other lane, so they could have given me a
"LITTLE" bit of room.

So, my hopes of exercise is once again, hindered. pouts

Jogging in Florida as dusk approaches without sidewalks? Aren't you
scared of all the Lincoln Continentals being driven by blind people?

Nope, that doesn't seem like the answer. But how's your running with
Chloe going? I finally took Ela running yesterday (she's 12 months and I
think her bone issues may have cleared up) and it was NOT an intense
run. Oh, it was lovely and pleasant and Ela thought it was wonderful, but
there was a whole lot of sniffing going on.

Well - it was 6 - 6:30pm... so it wasn't quite dusk yet. And in that
neighborhood there are know caddy's or lincolns driving around. More
like chevettes and escorts and pickup trucks.

That's a different story. WHen I got home I took chloe for a run.
Well, I tried at least. I can get a good jog in, but there is a
whole lotta sniffin going on. Even on a "heal"... When she's gotta
go, she's gotta go. I try to jog in place. But once you've got a
rythem going, it sucks to break it to stop and walk.

Its definately a work in progress, but all our "heal" training has
paid off and since she's about 1.5 - 2yrs now, she can handle a 2 - 3
mile run without worry of injury.
