I then went throught the
ingredients list of most of the whole grain breads on the shelf and
found only one variety without HFCS.


Which one did NOT have any HFC?

There's enough sugar/carbs in the flour. My french bread recipe uses no
added sugar. Probably if I didn't use any refined wheat at all, the
sugar would be a great help, but I usually use at least 1/3 unbleached
white anyway. But a little added honey does taste really good ...

| It was the Oroweat Health Nut bread. But I have to add, that bread's
| first flour ingredient was plain unbleached white flour, then came the
| whole grain flours. It still leaves room for some improvement. The
| sweetener in that bread is honey. Serving Size 1 slice - 100 cal -
| Total Carbs 18 g - Dietary Fiber 2 g.

| Time to get the KitchenAid back out again.
