Kimkins pics: she's huge & has lost her hair

Assuming this is true, which aspect of the kimkin diet is responsible for the hair loss? Find pretty much any diet system that leads to rapid loss (faster than 1 pound per week averaged across several months) and you'll find folks who have lost hair. The number seems higher among low carbers but I've never been convinced that the percentage of low carb fast losers is higher - More low carbers seem to lose fast than folks trying other systems and I've never seen enough data on the topic to guess at percentages. Most of the time the hair grows back thicker or darker. The advance of gray in my beard got several years of reversal when I started. Are these folks who see it not grow back? That would indicate some problem deeper. Loss with regrowth just seems to be the hair follicles rebooting somehow. Loss without growth would be worse. So I'm far more interested in what happened six months after the loss started than what happened six months after the diet was started and the hair loss started. |

According to an ex-DIL, the hair loss is caused by alopecia. http://kimkinsdangers.blogspot.com/2...s-her-out.html Sheesh. This is going to take a while to get through all of this. I followed it a couple of days back when it was brought up here before, but didn't stick with it. It's become more interesting now with pictures. Thanks for posting... I think. |

Alopecia is Latin for Baldness. The condition we call alopecia is an autoimmune disorder, where the immune system fights the hair roots. Not really a lot of good treatment options. If it's true, I feel for her (even though she's probably most of what her critics have to say). Alopecia is an embarrassing road to hoe, and given the lack of effective treatment (have been prescribed topical steroids, a psoriasis med, laser treatment, UVA/B exposure and a $500/month off prescription immuno- suppressant). Kimmer remains a fascinating person. Like a car wreck or Lindsay Lohan (like there's a difference). Would be curious to see if Woman's World has any response to everything that's come out since their cover story. Side note: How can a magazine, in this day and age, not have a website? |

You have a very charasmatic sociopath manipulating people in a cult-like group vs. a bunch of irrational nutcases who just hate the heck out of her. Currently, I have no life... so the Kimmer story is fascianting as heck to me. -- http://www.ornery-geeks.org/consulting/ |

When you put it all together I can see how the story can be fascinating. I just don't necessarity see why "kimmer" is, though. I saw it as one of those....well, we're all getting entertained by the sleaziest amongst us. |

"There's a sucker born every minute." type of behavior leading to success. It captures our imagination and spirit in some way. I read up on this the other day and found it very interesting, but had a different take. What makes it interesting to me is the sadism and submissiveness. If it was just about money, then any eating plan or special food combination could be used in the ploy. But to manipulate people into starvation, pushing the goal of being SNATT (semi nauseous all the time --their lingo) shows a special brand of sociopath. Likewise those who would be convinced that SNATT is a reasonable means to the end goal of weight loss would is a special form of victim. Its seems very much more like a cult than just a scam. To my view, that's way it all seems so hard for the rest of us to understand their fanaticism. -- Rudy - Remove the Z from my address to respond.
