"Oopsie, I made a Boo Boo" :-S
Greetz,

*grin :-D*

Wouldn't you know the week I started LC I saw Nestle's Toll House
candy bars. Hunks of Toll House cookie dough with caramel and
chocolate chips covered in chocolate. I wanted one of those *so* bad.
But for the last three weeks I did not yield. Until yesterday. I had
an oopsie. Big time. Know what? Wasn't that good. I had expected a
near orgasmic experience. It was okay, nothing to write home about.
Guess my body and taste buds are changing.

Planned Indulgence.
I have them once a week. Not usually anything more extreme than going ahead
and eating the baked potato instead of subbing it for steamed veggies.. and
a bit of real bread or two.. hasn't hurt me. I am not in this as a race
anyway.. my weight loss is slow but steady with the occasional wooshie woosh
if I have been exceptionally good for more than a week straight. But it
makes it easy for me to keep on this way of eating, unlike last time when I
tried to be so strict about it. I lost alot of weight, but sure wasn't happy
in the process.

I don't like the term cheating when refering to eating something not
LC or any other diet in general. To cheat is to take an unfair
advantage to aid in your benefit. Eating something that's high in
carbs does not aid in your benefit, it simply holds you back. I
would prefer any relative term to "mistake". "Slip-up". "Boo Boo".
"Oopsie". Whatever.

Just my opinion,

How about this take:

Using your definition of cheating, let us assume that a person who is denied
any pleasure in having a bit of ice cream now and then would simply give up
on the program entirely. But the same person allowed an occasional scoop of
ice cream would be more prone to sticking with the WOE. Would you call that
cheating?

Oh yes... and there is the adage about "cheaters never prosper." So thus
cheating seems to be a fine term, even based on your definition.

What if you eat "off plan" on purpose? Is that a Slip-up, BooBoo,
Oopsie, or whatever? I don't prefer terms such as those since they seem
silly, even though I agree that "cheating" is not precise either. IMO,
one simply goes "off plan" or "off WOE" by choice, either planned or
unplanned.

off plan is probably the best decription, although i say cheated too.

Tastes vary. I don't like euphemisms that hide what is really
happening.

To cheat is to take an unfair advantage to aid in your benefit.

To cheat is also to take a short cut that might feel good in the
short run but it tends to hurt you in the long run when you have a
more spectacular failure from lack of preparation. This is the
meaning usual in food cheating.

I would prefer any relative term to "mistake".

That's fine. It takes all kinds. Disagreements create the strength
of diversity.
