Benefits of rice or almond milk over non-fat milk.
I use non-fat milk every day in cereal but i've been thinking of
changing over to rice or almond milk due to the sugar in non-fat milk. Non-fat milk has 12 grams per cup. How much does rice and almond milk have per cup? Also, are rice and almond milk healthier than non-fat? |

That should more than take care of my fat intake. |

Even compared to other non dairy milks, it lacks in a lot of ways. Almond milk is slightly better, and raw milk is yummy. So is home-made almond milk, which we drink when the raw isn't available. Also keep in mind that these alternative are really Almond Juice, Rice Juice or Soy Juice. Goat is closest in composition to human milk, and it's easier to digest and absorb the nutrients. Best of my knowledge milk substitutes are not a nutritional , I personally hate cow milk, probably because I have been slaughtering them, however, I love their meat :-) Recipe for almond milk:http://chetday.com/soymilk.htm(this is where I got the recipe) 1 1/2 cups of raw almonds, soaked in water overnight 4 cups of filtered or spring water 3-5 dates (optional) Blend 1 ½ cups of raw almonds that have been soaked overnight in 4 cups of water. Blend with dates if you like your milk with a hint of sweetness. Strain once to remove almond granules. The result is a delicious, creamy milk that is free of harmful vegetable oil, concentrated sweeteners, and the problems associated with cow's milk and soy. It can be stored safely for 3-4 days in the refrigerator. Reference:http://www.whiteegretfarm.com/html/m...emilk.txt(rice milk recipe)http://parenting.ivillage.com/baby/b...om/cowmilk.htm Thanks for your reply. I love cow's milk but want to try somrthing else. The almond milk recipe sounds interesting. I'm going to check out tthe links too. Regards. |

I'm not the OP, but I think almond milk tastes much better than either soy or rice milk. Personally, I try to avoid consuming too much dairy (which is not really a problem for me since I've never been a milk drinker anyhow). I just don't like the way it makes me feel. Nut milks are a great alternative. To the OP: if you want to know how much sugar is in rice or almond milk, go to the store and read the packages. Different brands are going to contain different amounts. |
