Default hello, Questions..

I went on a 'less eating' diet about a year or so ago after I got my
blood results back(first time in a while). i supposedly lost about 15
pounds, but i think it was just water weight, as my shape didn't change
any. after ab out 4 months, I gained it all back.

In January of last year, I bought a Treadmill, and have been using it
semi regularly, while trying to watch what I eat. So far, no real
change.

My new regime is to do 40-50 minute straight sessions at 3.1 mph. Any
faster and I get too tired too quickly. I alternate between swinging
my arms and holding on to the rails, as I hear you burn more when arms
are swung... So far, I seem to have lost 5 pounds. From 265, to 260.
I also purchased a Frosty Mug, and am drinking more water regularly..

If this a good way to loose weight? If so, has anyone else tried
something similair and how much have you lost? I'm hoping to lose at
least 60 pounds in 6 months...

Thanks for any info..

To really lose much weight, you'll also have to cut back on eating.
And as you get more fit you should (a) increase the pace of your
exercise, and (b) start doing some interval training -- alternating
easier speeds with challenging ones. You should also buy some
dumbbells and start doing some weight training.

Your goal of 10 lbs/month is too ambitious, unless you're extremely
heavy. A better rate of loss is 1-2 lbs/week, or 4-8 lbs/month.

Back in March 2005 I weighed 268 pounds. The very first thing I did was cut
fast food out of my diet - I used to eat it every day for lunch, many times
for breakfast and sometimes dinner. I started eating breakfast at home or
having cold cereal at work, brought my lunch with me and had dinner at home.
I had/have a problem with my legs and had stopped walking because it hurt so
much. I was always a very fast walker, and I discovered that I *could* walk
again but had to slow down, to about 3mph like you. Actually, I was going
even slower than that and worked my way up to 3, and can now do 3.5mph. So,
between cutting out fast food and walking as my only exercise, I did start
losing weight.

I then began to keep track of what I was eating. Watching my fat intake
really helped me, but it's different for everyone. Only recently (like,
several weeks ago) have I tried any other form of exercise, following some
"walk aerobics" DVDs that I bought. I plan on trying some other stuff
soon - I know I need to add some weights in eventually but I'm an idiot when
it comes to exercise.

So yes, I have tried something similar (although walking outside, not on a
treadmill) and since last March I've lost over 90 pounds. I've been eating
1300-1400 calories a day, sometimes 1500. For the first 9 months I never
felt hungry. Last month I had a couple of weeks when I felt hungry all the
time, and I ate a little more. I kept to healthier snacks like popcorn (not
slathered in butter or oil!), string cheese, high fiber crackers and lowfat
cheese, apples. I log everything I eat. I try to stay in my calorie target
range as much as possible. I try to get in at least 30 minutes of exercise
a day. I try to drink a lot of water and that's actually the hardest part.
Some days I drink more than others. I try to limit myself to 1 diet soda
each day, and sometimes a cup or two of hot tea.

Losing weight is about simple math. More calories out and less calories
in and you will lose weight. it's simple.

Count calories, it's not hard and after a few days it only takes
minutes to do.

First off go here to calculate how many calories you need:

http://www.cancer.org/docroot/PED/co...Calculator.asp

Next go to www.fitday.com to add your calories.

Second add exercise to burn MORE calories in a day.

One lb of fat has about 3500 calories in it. The safest ammount of
weight one can lose is 2-3 lbs a week.

Your goal is reasonable but tough...if you count calories and exercise
EVERYDAY for at least 30 minutes you'll be fine. But you have to
actually break a sweat and get your heart rate up.

What's a good apetite surpressent to use? Preferably one with an
energy booster that dosn't give you a small headache from caffine ...

Also, is non salted pretzels a good snack to have, or should I stick to
popcorn?

Coffee or Tea. Don't go adding milk or sugar though or you'll end up
drinking a snack instead of an appetite suppressant.

Popcorn varies quite a bit depending on what it's popped in and pretzels
are a simple carb.

How about yogurt for women and cottage cheese for men?
