Sore feet walking
"Perdu" wrote in message ... What are the ideas on this? Over the years I've found that certain makes work for me and others don't. For some time I've been using Merrell shoes and I've found them very comfortable. They make many different sorts and it's important to be able to try on what you might be thinking of buying. |

Back when I was very heavy I used to talk a lot....fast and hard too. I kept it up until I messed up my feet badly. I'd have pain every night like clock work. I ended up having to buy expensive regular shoes and I switched to stationry bike riding and backed off on the walking. Now I have no problems, but it took a long time for my return to get back to normal as it was hard to just not walk on my feet. Had you invested in good shoes before now you might have avoided this. But don't worry. You can probably get a better workout in less time on a stationary bike. :: :: -- :: Bon Lowcarbit :: :: Perdu |

I found this link helpful: http://www.thesportsauthority.com/in...y_buyguide_txt or http://tinyurl.com/4clk6 Now that I purchase sneakers that address my pronation, my feet don't hurt. If you're heavy, you're probably better off with running shoes as they have more support than walkers. |

My suggestion is to stretch out your entire foot before and after your
walking, try this: get in an open doorway and hang your entire body by your toes over a step, I use the 2 steps in our garage doorway. I lower myself and stretch all the leg and foot completely, then release, try doing this 10x daily, its helps ALOT, gl |

Hi Perdu, It sounds to me like what I have. I've had it for years, it's actually a very common foot problem called plantars fascitis (no idea how to spell it, but it's pronounced fasheeitis. Being a waitress and working retail inflamed it for me. I'm betting you need orthotic inserts custom made for yourself and unfortunately they cost at least $350 Cdn. But believe me it's well worth it. Ask your doctor to recommend a good podiatrist and go see them. Also ice your foot after a walk, or anytime it hurts, that's very important. Go buy one of those gel ice bag thingies. Common symptoms a pain in soles and/or upper instep after rest when you get up again it hurts like crazy and at it's worst, the most painful time can be your first steps in the morning after you get up. Your feet are important, please don't hesitate to see a podiatrist because once you get it inflamed to a certain point - it takes a long time to make it go away. Sorry I'm not that dumb I was simply making a play on the typo...."I used to talk a lot' .....in fact I found it way too funny, must be a slow day.... Rod |

But more than that, stronger and healthier. There is this hill I used to look at and by the time I got to the foot of it, before the trail up, I was out of breath. Just to get there took 2 miles of walking. Up the hill? Forget it! I would have passed out. That was 3 months ago. Today - I ran up it. So it's getting better every day. But I will spend money on good gear. I did not need it before. Now I do. It's like a drug. -- Bon Lowcarbit Perdu There is this running shoe shop in London call Run and Become. You go in there with your old pairs of running shoes, and they get you to run around while they watch you. Then they make recommendations on what shoes fit you best. They carry all sorts of brands... I know you don't live anywhere near London but is there any chance of finding something similar in your part of the world? Ask the people in running clubs / societies and they might know something. http://www.runandbecome.com/ A review about the shoe shop: http://observer.guardian.co.uk/magaz...178693,00.html |

"Roger Zoul" wrote in message ... yes. Take up riding a stationary bike..... Stationary bike? Nah... that's not nearly as fun as a real bike. I just got my old bike out of the shed for the first time last week. Went riding for an hour Friday, it was great. Feeling the wind in my face, watching the scenery speed past me. It reminded me of why I loved bikeriding. You can cover so much more ground than walking. Plus, when you start to get tired, you still have to ride back home, which makes me stick to it longer than I would a stationary bike. I went out again on Saturday for another ride, and then on Tuesday I found a biking buddy who is four years old and joined me riding around the neighborhood. -- Spring LC since 1/1/04 260/197/170 "Before" & "current" pics at link below: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/sprgsnow/my_photos |
