"Willow Herself" wrote in message t... I didn't find any part difficult.. Writting is hard for me since it's a second language.. I still have to go through credentialing... again... but it should be easy since I have somebody to guide me through it this time. Maths part was ridiculously easy.. reading seemed easy too.. but who knows.. I had a feeling you wouldn't find the math portion difficult. I thought all of it was easy--my only problem with the reading was my tendency to over-analyze. But I still came out well above what was needed to pass each section. I'm sure you will, too. smile "teachrmama" wrote in message ... Yay, Willow!! Which part did you find most tedious? One of the teachers on our staff completed his last course just a few days
after the requirement for a new readomg test came into force--so he had to take that test, even though when he started the process, it wasn't a requirement. He was pretty ticked off about it. And I look at what teachers have to go through to get their credentials today, and I am glad I already have mine. Although I do have to jump through a few hoops to maintain my Reading and Lang Arts Specialist credential. You've got to wonder if this really makes us better teachers. It puts us all on the same page as far as the basics. I started
teaching in 1967 at a Los Angeles high school and there were teachers there who would not have passed today's CBEST in CA. There writing and grammar skills were weak yet they were teaching English. They had gone to tiny colleges in other states and just did not have the same preparation as others. So in the long run, Willow will do fine and you may be suprised how easy it is to work into a job. The young man in the room next to me is 24 and he just got a one year internship paid for by the local state college and it will then turn into a job paid for by the school district at the end of a year. He is a math teacher and there is a shortage. There is a shortage of qualified teachers in many districts throughout the state. Look into adult school too as another possibility. I taught there when I moved from LA to San Diego and I appreciated the maturity of the students. Audrey "teachrmama" wrote in message ... My ideal spot would be to teach in "Juvy" with the kids in jail or with the
drop outs coming back.. Not the most paying jobs.. but I did it once (for a 6 weeks sub) and loved it!! Will~ "ahmward" wrote in message ... It puts us all on the same page as far as the basics. Exactly my problem.. I think too much... generally in the practice exam..
would pick and answer.. then correct it.. and 99% of the time, the first one was right... Will~ "teachrmama" wrote in message ... "Willow Herself" wrote in message t... I wish I could believe that the tests indicated that the person was going to be an excellent teacher, but I have seen all too often that it doesn't work out that way. At the same time, I don't have any other solutions to the problem. sigh They had gone to tiny colleges in other states and just did not have the same preparation as others. You'd be suprised how often those jobs are available. I have a friend
who taught at juvenile hall before he became a full time minister. My knitting teacher teaches high school classes to inmates at a private CA prison. There's a high turnover and burnout for those jobs. Audrey "Willow Herself" wrote in message . net...
