Oh no! Breyer's Carb Smart Kaput too?

Couple weeks ago, Edy's Grand LC ice cream disappeared from the
shelves. This week, it's Breyer's Carb Smart that's gone from my local
supermarket here in NJ. Anyone else see this disappear too?

This is unbelievable. First we had about 5 companies all trying to
sell LC ice cream for $5.50 a half gallon. But one of them was on
sale every week, so it really sold for $2.50. Now it's beginning to
look like we will be left with zippo. Which seems very strange,
because one would think there is a big enough market that one company
could supply it at say $4.00 and make a nice businesss out of it.

The western states version of Edy's (Dreyer's Carb Benefit) seems to
have disappeared from the Safeway chain out here but there was still
some to be had at Albertsons. But there is no guarentee how long that
will last. Several other lowcarb products (like Heinz 1-carb catsup)
are also pretty hard to find these days.

And the new branch of the lowcarb chain (Castus) that had opened near
me a couple years back disappeared some time ago.

I have noticed that here in Florida, too. Publix, our big SE chain had
several flavors. Now all I can find is Vanilla, and I notice the section
that has been "kept " for the Breyers Carb Smart is being taken over by
other brands. Since the chain is headquartered here in my town, I may
ask them to consider re-stocking. My husband is diabetic, and his MD
wants him to be as carb-free as possible. This was a great way for a
bedtime treat, which also helped with having no hypos in the night.

Maybe we should all write to Breyers too.

It is entirely possible that it is still being made, just your local grocery
store has decided not to keep carrying it. To be sure, call the store and
speak to the frozen foods manufacturer. Usually if there is an available
product the store does not carry, they can special order it for you. If the
chain store doesn't want to do this, call a locally owned (like an IGA)
store and ask them.

I was in the local shoprite about three weeks ago and happened to see the
buyer for Edy's. She told me that they are no longer making the low carb
stuff.. So I bought the last 4 half gallons.. They're gone
now................................

That would have lasted me barely a week.

I bought 12 bars of Blue Bunny low carb icecream bars..... and in one
evening they were gone.

I need to periodically verify my lack of will power over icecream.
