Why Soda should be banned
I did some homework on the effects of Soda today and I discovered two
facts: Drinking just one serving of soda nearly doubles your chances of getting diabetes. 75% of Americans drink at least one serving of soda. If you put these facts together, it implies that 6 out of 7 cases of diabetes is caused by soda! 6 OUT OF 7!!! Repeat: 6 OUT OF 7!!! Now you be the judge. Is soda still harmless? Andrew Lin |

Its not the Soda that causes diabetes, but rather the sugar in it.
Sugar should be banned...but then again, if you ban sugar, which leads to diabetes, breast cancer and tons of other diseases, you are left with things like aspertame and Splenda, which do not lead to diabetes, but does lead to other ailments.... If you ban them too and only take in natural sugars, such as sugar in fruit, you then become exposed to Methanol, as I got on an other website: "Exposure to methanol also results from the consumption of certain foodstuffs (fruits, fruit juices, certain vegetables, aspartame sweetener, roasted coffee, honey) and alcoholic beverages. In humans, ingested or inhaled methanol is always quickly largely converted into formaldehyde and thence largely into formic acid." So basically, fruit and natural sugar will kill you too. Personally, I believe all things should be in moderation. It is fine to have 1 soda every so often....you may want to choose diet every now and then though. We can not live our lives in fear of everything we eat. If you want to eat natural foods all the time, thats fine, although your fruits and veggies are sprayed while they are growing, so they are not natural anymore... Sorry for rambling on, but I know people who are on "Sweeteners/Splenda/Aspertame, etc is bad for you...eat sugar instead" kicks. In doing my own research, everything is bad for you if in excess. |

We can not live our lives in fear of everything we eat. SPOT ON! If you want to eat natural foods all the time, thats fine, although your fruits and veggies are sprayed while they are growing, so they are not natural anymore... ....not to mention animals being fed hormones & other strange stuff... Sorry for rambling on, but I know people who are on "Sweeteners/Splenda/Aspertame, etc is bad for you...eat sugar instead" kicks. In doing my own research, everything is bad for you if in excess. Again, spot on. And not only that, but what's 'good' and 'bad' for you changes all the time. Every study making 'new' claims about some food or other brings with it a whole lot of new products either containing the 'good' ingredient or replacing the 'bad' one with something else as well as sparking a marketing campaign for existing products that already contain the 'good' thing. In many cases, the only real beneficiaries of all these stories are food manufacturers and retailers. |
