Exercise addiction
Following an Oct 23rd visit to the Doc for a physical and being shocked at
my weight (260 lbs) I committed to a diet and exercise program. I am fortunate to have a nicely equipped gym in my house (it was formerly owned by a pro hockey player) and I've been faithfully doing the treadmill thing and weight lifting every morning. Between the diet and the exercise I've dropped 31 lbs so far. However, after two months the treadmill was getting boring so I looked around for another cardiovascular type machine to alternate to and bought a Sole Elliptical. I can do 3-4 miles on the treadmill at 3.8 - 4.0 mph at a 2.6 to 3.0 degree incline with no problem. I got on the new elliptical and even at a low resistance level after 5 minutes my legs were shaking, I was huffing and puffing and the heart monitor reading was climbing alarmingly. This thing is going to take some time getting used to. I also need to check with the Doc about a safe, maximum heartrate to shoot for when using it. It's a very demanding machine when compared to the treadmill. Off to the gym room. RCE |
