Sugar Busters ... and my beloved corn
Anyone here read Sugar Busters? I found it on tape in my company's
library and I'm listening to it in the car during comuute times this week. Very good information about blood chemistry, insulin, glucogen, glycogen, pancreatic and liver function, etc. A very informative book. They list some foods to avoid. At the top of the list is refind flour (of course), followed closely by carrots and corn sigh my beloved and much maligned treat. Since I'm very near my goal weight I think it would be okay if I treat myself to corn instead of, for example, a couple of those new Dreyers CarbCounter Icecream snacks (lets be realistic, I could go hog wild and eat 5 if I'm in a boinked state). I figure if the majority of carbs I eat in a given day (around 40-60 grams) come from corn, then maybe that would be all right, particularly if it satisfies me enough to keep me away from the icecream snacks. Please help me figure out if I'm just trying to justify my corn addiction or if this is actually sound reasoning. |

remember that your body doesn't know that you are eating corn or ice
cream. it pumps the insulin to cover the carbs you ingest. -- wrote in message ups.com... Anyone here read Sugar Busters? One thing corn has going for it that ice cream does not is fiber. :-)
Oh, that's right! Coool! That means if I limit myself to half a can, and only occasionally (like around my period when I'm apt to cheat), it's really only around 22 grams carb per serving. Not so bad, really. Could be worse. I like the green giant no salt added niblets. I love corn on the cob, but adore the convenience of the canned stuff. Really keeps things moving too, which is always nice, especially if you eat a lot of meat like I do. |

I think you should work on getting over your love affair with corn. It's
alright as an occasional treat, but making it a main source of your carb intake is bordering on strange, IMO. I'm not faulting you for enjoying it, but scheming to keep it in your diet on a regular basis at the exclusion of other veggies, is not good, IMO. wrote: :: Anyone here read Sugar Busters?
