Tomorrow will mark two months at or below goal for me. It is amazing to me
that before April, I had slowly lost about ten pounds over the course of a year and since April, I have lost 30. More impressively, I have lost ten inches from around my waist. My origingal goal was 115 pounds and am consistently between 110 and 113. Now, I am trying to add a little muscle. I am on two tennis teams and am amazed at how weak I am. I know that it is difficult to gain strength and lose weight simultaneously so I didn't try. My darling BF has generously sent me to a personal trainer and I am learning things to do with him and on my own to increase a little muscle mass. Jimmy, the trainer, has discovered very mean things to do with those big exercise balls. My thighs are still sore from a Thursday workout. I had some minor surgery a couple of weeks ago. I recovered well but couldn't do any exercise at all for a period of about ten days. I couldn't believe the impact of less than two weeks of inactivity on my fitness level. Since April, I have been walking 4 miles each morning. When I was cleared to exercise, I was sore for two days after resuming my morning walks. I am eating much more and it doesn't seem to affect my weight. I am still following South Beach Diet way of eating. I have allowed myself a few indulgences. I eat a couple of pieces of dark chocolate after lunch. I was eating a piece after dinner but started waking up in the middle of night and wondered if there was a correlation so I am giving it a rest for now. The most important thing is that I feel very, very good most of the time. I still suffer work related stress and my personal life has its ups and downs like everyone else. But, the confidence that comes from completing a mission that you can see in the mirror seems to spill over into other areas of life. My energy level is higher than ever (except when I don't sleep) and I no longer suffer that hung over feeling in the morning and afternoon fogginess that seemed to come and go with a high carb life style. Julianne Excellent! I find the SBD WOE to be very easy to live with. Could the chocolate thing be caffeine related? Jenn |
