I Have a Computer Again :-)

A couple of weeks ago I spilled a few drops of wine into my keyboard and killed mine. Unfortunately, the damage was severe -- took out the system board. It would have cost as much to repair it as to replace it, so we bought a new one (IBM Thinkpad) and kept the old one for parts. And DH took out the old hard disk and RAM and put them in the new one, so it looks and acts exactly the same (though it has the little fingerprint recognition feature, which I didn't particularly want). Anyway, it's nice! And I've started back in again today logging my food, now that I can do my spreadsheets. I didn't gain any weight in the interim -- actually went down a couple of pounds (though a couple of wine events yesterday may have made up for that :-) ). Anyway, I'll be back to doing my old Food & Exercise posts! (No news on the Mom front, by the way. She's still there physically, not so much mentally.) Chris 262/130s/130s started dieting July 2002, maintaining since June 2004 Welcome back, Chris. I've been spending a lot of time at the hospital with my grandmother. That woman is a piece-of-work! They'll send her home soon just to shut her up. It's been sad seeing so many seniors in conditions similar to your mother's. I really feel for you. Take care! Thanks, Amy. I just talked with the social worker at the nursing home. Not much change in Mom's condition -- maybe a little more gradual decline. She now doesn't make much attempt to feed herself, so they do that. She's on total life-care -- bedpans and such (but no artificial measures). She talks very little, and sleeps most of the time. At least she doesn't seem to be particularly discontented -- is too out of it to really know what's going on, and doesn't seem to be in pain (they give her meds for that). Chris So sorry Chris, it's miserable knowing that the end is on it's way and there is nothing you can do. It was like that with my Dad and we were told it was best to just let him go but it's rotten to be the family there watching. I empathise. -- Rachael |
