The Outback here is a very good place to go when low carbing. Just tell the
waitress you are on Atkins (ours took the croutons out of the salad and kept
the bread in the kitchen.) The main course came with some delicious veggies.

Hold the bread and potatoes, Steamed veggies are great! Enjoy:. FTR, I'm on
maintenance and have ordered a sweet potato with the sugar on the side. I
put lots of butter on it and ate half of it, very satisfying

I went to an Outback once on a business trip - I'd never been before. I was
suprised at how good it was - it was better than I usually expect those
national chain places to be.

You shouldn't have any trouble eating low-carb there. The place is really
all about meat and fish. :-) I ordered some kind of chicken, and I asked
to substitute mixed vegetable for the fries it came with - no problem. Not
only that, but the vegetables were quite good so I asked for a second side
serving of them - again, no problem. And again, I was extremely surprised
at the quality of those vegetables.

As another poster said, just tell the waitress that you are on Atkins.
There are plenty of good choices there!

The Outback item I have trouble saying no to is their bloomin' onion. That
is SOOOO good, but not low-carb!

Mark.

I shared one of those last November, the first time I had tasted the
onion thing. I was good, having salmon and vegetables. Mother had a
coupon or something and she selected the onion. A few bites here. Oh,
a bite of that roll won't hurt. Downward spiral. Mother + food =
disaster for me.

That's the day I derailed on lc and it took me months to get back. I
thought it was sort of sweet, too. Very salty.

I went with some people and they all got the normal stuff (anyways, what is
normal for them not me) huge baked potatoes, carby dressing on salads,
seconds on the bread, sugary drinks, etc. I got a nice boneless ribeye
steak and subsituted the potato with some combination veggies they had..
zucchini and cauliflower.. huge salad but asked for vinegar and oil and I
mixed it myself...and water to drink. I could hardly finish the meal, I was
so stuffed. Made me wonder how I used to waltz in there and eat that same
meal in addition to a huge potato, lots of bread, soup and sometimes even
dessert before? LOL.

Maybe it's because you wrote "outback" in lower-case, but I initially took your
post to mean you were going camping or hiking in the Australian outback :-) I
thought: "They have salmon in the outback? There's not much water there. Hmmmm
...." :-)
