NSVs and updates - Amberle3
Hi Everyone!
Well I'm back from escorting a group down to the US of A. I had an interesting time, a few NSVs and some interesting observations. First of all, a semantics thing. We do motorcoach tours and we play bingo on the bus. For hours. For prizes! One of my clients brings Avon jewelry and we play for that (as well we stuff we provide). My mother was describing one necklace as "chunky" and I had to correct her - the box clearly said it was BOLD, not CHUNKY. So I'm thinking that next time someone says anything negative about my size I'm going to say "I'm not *fat*, I'm BOLD!". And I walked for 300+ miles Sunday and Wednesday . Okay, well it just felt like it. Because we play bingo (for hours) it means walking up and down the aisle handing out cards, playing Vanna White and showing off the prizes, checking bingos, etc etc. Unfortunately I don't think that counts! I did notice that it's much easier to walk up and down the aisle on the bus now! I'm not bumping into people and arm rests nearly as much, and I have fewer bruises to show for it! My mother and I made good use of the exercise room at the hotel. I try to get in there at least once a trip, but this was the first time my mother used it too. 15 minutes on the treadmill, 15 minutes on the recumbent, and then a nice 30-45 minute swim. Did that every night we were there. Was a nice break from the casino! My intention was not to do a whole lot of shopping this trip. I wanted to buy another pair of the pull-on stretch jeans I've been wearing because they're just so comfortable, and maybe one a size smaller as well to shrink into. The pull-ons were wearing out and size 18. I checked the tag on the jeans I'm finally back into (that are a little baggy) and saw they were a size 20. I figured that well, that must be the difference between the pull on and regular jeans, plus the fact that these ones weren't stretchy. Okay. When I got to Target I couldn't find the Cherokee pull-on jeans in the larger sizes! Oh no! But they did have non-pull on stretch Cherokee jeans on sale. Grabbed a 20 (since that's what the old "real" jeans are) and an 18 to try on. Hmm, the 20 was very comfortable. Maybe TOO "comfortable". Tried on the 18s. Hey, that's more like it! They fit very well, and are even a little relaxed! Put the 20s back and grabbed a 16 for when I lose more. Back at the hotel I figure what the heck, tried on the 16. Well they fit perfectly. I've been wearing the 18s since Tuesday and discovered that I actually need a belt with them! Good thing I don't wear short tops, because the waist band is loose enough that the undies show even when I'm standing. And, just to show that it's all in the make and manufacturer, I also bought a blouse and full-length top in a lovely turquoise slinky fabric (on sale for $6 each) at Herbergers. They're a 1X and are wearable now, but the blouse would look better with a few more pounds off. Also bought a red blazer at Herbergers (also $6) size 16 that fits well, and a pair of denim capri pants (Walmart) that are a 14/16 and I haven't dared try on yet. But they were $3 so I couldn't pass them up! I'm sure they'll be going in the "soon" box.! And some of my more observant clients noticed that I had lost weight, which was very nice. What's very odd is that I'm used to at least 3 or 4 people asking me on each trip if I've lost weight, and the usual answer is "Oh I wish I had". I've been getting this question for years, even when I was gaining weight. Most of these people haven't seen me since I've lost 20 pounds, and most didn't notice! And oddly enough, the ones that did are all familiar with WW and the points system. Oh, and for those that are curious - you can't put Skinny Cows in a cooler in early-fall weather and expect to still have ice cream 6 hours later. Maybe on my December trip! Wow! Excellent NSVs Amberle3. I loved your story about the jeans - going
down 1 size is great, but going down 2 in one go is brilliant ;o) Well done. Laura "Amberle3" wrote in message ... Hi Everyone! Well I'm back from escorting a group down to the US of A.
