Default New To Weigh****chers

Hey all,
I just got off of the Atkins diet (once I started losing my hair and realizing
cutting out all fruit, whole wheat, etc. can't be healthy) and want to try
Weigh****chers. It seems sensible, yet with good results.

I have no clue how to start, though. Do I order a book? Subscribe to a
website?

Also, I'm at college, so I don't cook my own meals. I go to the dining hall
and select from what they have out. Will this be a problem? I also live in a
small rural town where I can't attend meetings... WalMart is literally the
*only* store there.

Let me know if I can do this

Because you don't cook yourself it will be harder, but you can do it if
you stick to the program.

You can subscribe to the Weight Watchers Online program on their
Website:

http://www.weigh****chers.com/index.aspx.

It will cost you US$ 16.95 a month.

If you're not in the USA you can look on the website of your own
country, which can be reached through
http://www.weigh****chers.com/international.aspx.

In Canada the program will cost you C$ 21.95 a month, in the UK
? 9.95.

Hope this helps,

Ekko

You might temporarily gain some weight back. Atkins has a "rebound" effect
when you quit it. I think, though, you are doing a wise thing. In spite of
the propaganda, it is NOT a healthy regine in the long run.
You will eventually manage to find things at school that you can eat. I
feel your pain...I too live where "all roads lead to Wal-mart." We JUST got
an authorized meeting here a few weeks ago. (Half the town goes!!!)
Until you "get it" you will have some setbacks. Don't get discouraged,
since what you are trying to do is not JUST loose the wt but establish the
habit of making good choices about your food and exercise. This will KEEP
the weight off in the long run. When you can walk into the church pot-luck
and pick and choose among the stuff there AND either skip the desserts, or
actually eat one or two small bites and toss the rest, YOU WILL HAVE ARRIVED
bigtime! (Did that last night...I'm SO proud!)

Welcome to the group. Check out the ww website. They have an online
version as well as an At-home kit you can order.

Good luck and i think you made a good decsion to switch from atkins.
while it may work initially most have found that they can not stick to
it forever. WW on the other hand is a way of eating healthy that you can
do for the rest of your life.

Thanks! I've actually been off Atkins for about 3 months, and have maintained
my weight thusfar. But I don't want to slip back into old habits and lose
myself, so I need something.

What are the odds of finding things at my school that are
weigh****cher-friendly? We have lots of pasta, cheeseburgers, pizza, mashed
potatoes, a salad bar, a fruit bar, and tons of eggs (Sunday brunch).

you have some challenges but it can be done, I buy the bulk of my groceries
from Wal-Mart and you will either want the at home kit or do on line, you
can choose what you can at the dining hall and supplement with shelf stable
fruits and things from Wal-Mart, good luck and welcome, Lee

since there is a fruit bar and salad bar it will be easier than I originally
thought. Make sure to choose the fresher and plainer items, fat free
dressings if you can, and look at the core plan to see if that will suit
your eating situation better than points. I am incapable of doing core but
think it worth your consideration, Lee

you might get a small apt size refrig to keep foods that you like in it.
This would certainly help keep you OP. you might talk to the kitchen
staff to see if they can make special meals for you. At least have
baked/roasted chicken available for you to add to salads. LF or ff
yogurt would be helpful too.
