Idiot.

I highly doubt that having this pile of useless, worthless muscles is
doing anything good for his health. Having a BMI of 32 is bad. Being
fat at BMI 32 is horrible, being muscular at BMI 32 is not that great
either.

Some dumbo bodybuilders think that by growing muscles, they are doing
themselves a favor. One needs to only look at their IQ to realize that
it is not the case and that they are not benefitting.

John.

WONDERFUL sweeping generalization there "John." Why is it that every anonymous
asshole in Usenet thinks it is OK to be a bigot and to make ludicrous assumptions
about entire groups of people? John, when you butch up and learn a thing or two
about these topics come back, but for now, just keep fondling your neighbor's 5 year
old son.

I've been laboring under the misconception that any correlation between
muscularity and intelligence is strictly coincidental. Would you care to
cite any studies that back up your gay little hypothesis?

JC,
You were doing well until you threw in your "gay" comment. Homophobia has no
place in this argument. Stick to the facts. I thought that most people stopped
thinking calling someone "gay" was an insult after the 5th grade or so.

Why don't you go back to sucking your boyfriends dick and leave the diet
advice to the competent.

If you think promoting Atkins makes you competent, you are wrong. Mad
hatter is correct. You MUST exercise, and you MUST have a proper diet. It
is that simple. People fail at these fad diets because they are just that,
fads. Your daily diet must be the right combo of carbs, EFA's, and protein.
Your daily eating habits must fit into your daily routine without you having
to think about it, so it must be part of your lifestyle. The initial weight
loss on Atkins is water weight as the Atkins book also states. Then, you
will eventually plateau, then when you become irritated with the diet, you
will quit and go back to the way you were before.

Akins maintains a Cult like following, so I am guessing my words will fall
on deaf ears.

Gay as in happy. Try to think outside the box you've built for yourself.

Also gay as in extremely lame, as the teenagers in this part of the
country use the term. Language mutates.

I'm not sure that Robert is ready for that leap in logic.

John.

And you're the expert on IQ in relation to muscles and body mass? Many who
exercise , or are active, tend to be more alert in cognitive and motor
skills. Saying those who grow muscles are doing themselves a disfavor
because it affects their IQ, highlights where yours is sitting. Do big
muscular guys scare you? Are you challenged by those who have muscles and
brains too? It's okay John, we big guys won't go anywhere near you. We
can't take the chance of being hurt by your overwhelming intellect. ;-)

I recently posted here that one of my concerns with Atkins is
that 68% of those who tried it, in one clinical study, wound up
constipated.

And how long was this study? Did they ever get past the first phase?
That is kind of important, as you move past induction, which is
supposed to last 2 weeks only, you are supposed to begin eating more
vegetables, and less of other things. Two weeks is not long enough to
give you long term problems, and any study that focuses on the
begining stage as if it is the whole diet is worthless as a source of
information.

and i have read that some people's initial phase lasts longer based on how
much they want or need to loose. Is that true?

That is bad for long term health. Removing fiber
from the diet demonstrably leads to colo-rectal cancer, the
third leading cancer killer behind lung cancer and prostate cancer,
and therefore the #2 preventable killer cancer.

that is a very good point. i am sure that a proponent of the diet could
bring up something to debate you on this, but i havent seen anything of that
sort yet.

Atkins goes out of it's way to insist on lots of fiber-- and in the
two week beiginning phase if you do not eat enough fiberous
vegetables, you are supposed to ease the *temporary* situation with
fiber supplements.

So does that prevent the above?

I even have
anecdotal evidence, a friend of mine was unable to tolerate any
fiber in her diet and she died about 20 years ago from colo-rectal
cancer at the age of only about 40.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. But really you are arguing a
strawman. Atkins is not a no fiber/ no veggie diet.

Like I said, I do not have a ton of excess flab, and alot of it is muscle.
so I don't put alot into what a persons BMI index is unless they are really
noticeably fat.

I don't have a double chin, and my arms, legs, and neck look slim. the
weight I want to loose is around my stomach and sides, to give you an idea.
