Krispy Creme's Donuts are Dunkin'
Not bad. Comes to about 67¢ apiece, or about 2-3¢ per gram of carbs.
"Laureen" wrote in message om... We dont even have a KK store here thats b/c I live in Bum**** Washington. Someone here drives 2 hours to Seattle in the early morning hours, picks them up, brings them back and the high school kids sell them as a fundraiser for $8 a dozen! Laureen |

I tried one of the KK doughnuts, and.. yes, fat ol' me who could eat sugary snacks and crap food (pre LC), threw it out and the box I bought. Didn't even want my son to eat them. Now that I've made myself talk about doughnuts, I think I'll go have my nice lunch -- Tuna salad on spinach and a 1/2 an avacado. Yum!! Alex |

Krispy Creme No one wants their crappy donuts anymore Are Krispy Creme generally seen as bad quality? In Davis they are sold at Albertson's and they are some of the best(*) that are available here, only topped by a very small doughnut bakery, where they make them at location. (*my reference is only regarding the custard filled doughtnut, as that is the one I have compared from all the brands). |

I live in Winston-Salem where Krispy Kreme is based and I call tell you they are hurting. There have been layoffs at the local HQs and such. I think KK needs to come up with some lower carb alternatives for those watching their carbs. Can you create a low-carb donut? That would be a challenge! A Splenda and whole wheat or almond (or nut) flour doughnut? |

(*my reference is only regarding the custard filled doughtnut, as that is the one I have compared from all the brands). I finally broke down a few weeks ago and made a KK run. I was curious as to the quality of their donuts overall, because I'd been rather unimpressed by my two previous encounters with the "classic" Krispy Kreme that everyone raves about -- I don't really care for yeast donuts much myself. I prefer the cake kind. I gotta say ... they make pretty damn good donuts. One, with strawberry-and-cream filling ("Strawberry Shortcake" was the flavor, I believe) was so sweet I literally couldn't eat the thing -- I took a bite and then spit it out in my napkin. But the "cheesecake" style was delicious. Really good chocolate old-fashioned style, too, which is my favorite. And really excellent coffee. So I ate a couple of donuts. We brought home a mixed dozen. I had two more the next day ... and then my husband took the rest to his grateful co-workers. End of experiment, back on the low-carb horse. They were damn fine donuts, though. Dawn |

HeadRusch wrote:
DD is the king, but they wont be hit nearly as hard as KK because their #1 traffic is Coffee... Very true. I used to be a Dunkin Donut fanatic. I *loved* Dunkin Donuts. Near my former office there was a small DD. They did not cook the donuts there but had them brought in every day, and since they were in a downtown business area were only open 7 AM to 6 PM, not 24 hours as many DDs. At 3 PM every day they had a special, 3 donuts for 99 cents, as they tried to get rid of their daily stock . Can't tell you how many times I went in for my 3 donuts! Anyway, I don't eat DD anymore, but I still find it a treat to go into DD occasionally and order a small French Vanilla coffee with half-and-half. It's a treat. Debbie |

Back in that era I was working in lower Manhattan on Maiden Lane, and used to pass through the World Trade Center every day, where they had a KK concession. The first time I saw it I had to stop and buy a couple donuts because KK had had so much publicity. I was not LC at the time and could eat Dunkin Donuts by the boxload, but those two KK donuts were pitiful. I did eat one but didn't really enjoy it. Started the second but after a bite or two I said "why am I doing this?" and tossed it into the trash. -- Debbie |

You misspelled "misspelling". Ironic, ain't it? -- As you accelerate your food, it takes exponentially more and more energy to increase its velocity, until you hit a limit at C. Krispy Creme's Donuts are Dunkin'
Now is the time to buy stock in KK. As soon as people catch on that they
shouldn't eat them there will be a huge backlash and sales will skyrocket. I've seen so many diets come and go and even though the LC diet will create a nutrition revolution, people will always be in the market for forbidden fruit. There will always be a market for doughnuts. Hen. |
