Default plateau questions

Hey all:

I knew this group was out there! I finally find you. Now I get to pick your
brains! I started Atkins mid-october of last year. lost about 8 lbs. through
the induction phase and by mid december I was down about 10 more. got
through x-mas and didn't lose, but more importantly didn't gain. sorted
floated on and off another 5 lbs since then. total weight loss to date about
20lbs give or take a pound or two. But since after x-mas I've just kind of
been stuck there, which is very frustrating. I just can't seem to crack the
200lb barrier. I don't exercise, though my work is fairly physical. I've
been fairly strict with my eating habits throughout. Am I being too
impatient? Would exercise make the difference? Every time I think of
quitting and going back to the pasta and regular beer I hear another success
story which keeps me beleiving. I've thought about doing induction again
thinking maybe it would kick-start things, but it's not a real desirable
prospect. Any comments or ideas would be appreciatted.

thanks

Dean

Exercise always helps.
Try cutting 5 grams of carbs over the next week and see what results.
Has there been changes in your dimensions?
Most importantly, keep going.

Don't pay any attention to JC. He's practicing to be a troll. Every now and
then he tosses in something insightful just to throw you off

You should refrain from giving advice until you actually lose some weight
and get down to something more closely resembling the human form.

do you know for a fact that "dean fougere" isn't eating too much?
usually, when people aren't losing weight, it's because they eat too
much. it's not all that hard to figure out.

Without more information about what the OP is eating, no one knows for a
fact if he's eating too much.

To the OP: How about giving the group an idea about what exactly you're
eating? Most people learn one or two things they didn't know or were in
denial about once they've put their daily menus out for scrutiny. If you're
not quite that brave yet (not many are), keep track of every morsel of food
that goes in your mouth at
www.fitday.com. You'll get a good idea of how
many calories and carbs you're eating.

Ever since I cut the volume of food I eat several weeks ago, my weight
hasn't budged. If it's really that easy to figure out, we wouldn't be
seeing advice such as 'up your carbs' and 'eat more calories' here--or the
follow-up posts that claim success from such endeavors.

You didn't cut the volume enough, obviously.

Someone on my forum claimed to have gained 30 lbs in 3 months eating
800-1000 calories/day.

Thanks Heather. I should mention that though I'm new to this group, I'm
involved in others and the best way to deal with trolls is as you say ignore
them. It is annoying though when they say something
insightful.................

Hmmm.... my understanding of Atkins is to eat until you are satisfied.
That's pretty much been what I've done since I've started. One weakness I do
have is I like to snack in the evening. Reading the book I don't recall that
being discouraged as long as you were snacking on the right foods.

Seen this site mentioned in another post. I will check it out. Hopefully get
some insight. thanks.
