Is this really Low Carb?

Butter Pecan Hot Cereal
Made by LowCarb success
Made w/ Flax meal

Fat 7g
Total Carbohydrates 12g
Dietary Fiber 10 g
Sugars 0
Protein 13g

I had some of this cereal today. I was surprised, but found that it is very
good. I know that many foods have hidden carbs but I'm never quite sure how to
find them.
Anyway .. The package says : "Only 2 Effective Carbs Per Serving"
True? Too good to be true? Anyone know?
Thanks!
~Kat

In order to do the calculations you need to know the total calories too.
Or you can go here and plug in the numbers.

It is assumed by many that by adding fiber to a meal, the carb count is
effectively lowered. Although many fibers are effectively carbs, they are
not absorbed by the body or used for energy. Therefore, you have a cereal
with 12 grams of carbs, ten of which are fiber and only two are available to
the body.

I tried to email you but couldn't get it to go through. Anyway, just change
the yellow areas and it will do the rest of the computation. I created this
when I was on the low-carb WOL to help me figure out exact carbs in food
items.

What's the difference? I think people are forgetting the purpose of low-carb
(blunt hunger, blunt hunger, blunt hunger), and to focused on the Carb. If
you eat to many Calories (even without carbs), you will balloon, it's that
simple.
