Throw It Out - I'll Never Be Small Enough To Wear That Again ! !
Last Spring, I stood in front of my closet and said that. Out went a lot of dress shirts with an inch smaller neck. Out went some pants. Out went my old ski outfit - Jacket and Bib Pants. Out went some suit coats. Out went some outdoor coats. ---------- Then about two or so months later I started Atkins. This week I have been buying some pants and shorts and shirts of the size that I threw out..... because "I'll Never Be Small Enough To Wear That Again!" Late last spring, during the close outs of last Winter's clothes, I bought some in Xtra Large and some in just Large..... Just in case....... While I am sad that I tossed out the old clothes that would now fit...... I am very happy to be that small again. Anybody else go through this? Jim |

Anybody else go through this?
Almost a year before I started Atkins, I got rid of EVERYTHING. I had been trying to get WLS (which I saw as my ONLY way out!), and found out my insurance company will not cover anything having to do with weightloss, period. A concrete written exclusion, no exceptions. I just gave up the hope I would ever be a normal size again. I was so depressed, I can't describe it. Like a madwoman I ripped EVERYTHING out and threw it in bags for goodwill. My closet was BARE. Half would be out of style junk by now, but I had some really nice stuff too! I tried the whole "fat acceptance" route, but seriously lacked the ability to lie to myself. I can't say how grateful I am that I found Atkins! But now I could KICK myself, LOL! Although I did find some stuff boxed up in the garage which I now fit in, or will soon. But my leather coats, my fantastic sweaters, the vintage stuff... I don't want to think about it. As for big clothes, I won't buy it, and refuse to keep any of it (except a 'before' outfit for a fun pic when I'm at goal) I just bagged up all my size 16 stuff, I'm comfortably wearing 14s. Regular 14s, not plus. And as much as I like being in them, I can't wait to get out and down to 12s. I would BURN the bigger clothes and dance around them if A) it wouldn't make my neighbors call the cops and/or nuthouse on me. and B) I didn't feel guilty about not giving them to somebody who can use them. I don't actually miss anything I threw out when I was heavier though. None of it's in style anymore anyway. Jim Yes. Clothes I had worn 10 to 15 years ago. I said to myself, I won't ever be able to wear this stuff again. Then I started Atkins. |

"jbuch" wrote in message ... Last Spring, I stood in front of my closet and said that. Nope, I haven't really had to suffer because of that. A year or two ago I did give away some of my smaller clothes that I thought I would never wear again. However, the only clothes I got rid of where clothes that I rarely wore when I was small anyway. I kept all of my favorites. I got rid of excess t-shirts and some stuff I wore in high school. Now that I've been shrinking, I've been getting rid of the larger clothes as I shrink. I am keeping my favorite items, but making them few. My thinking is that a really favorite shirt is hard to come by, etc. I'm also thinking that perhaps I can use some of these large clothes when I get pregnant. So I've been placing them in a box marked "Maternity". Like I said, I'm only keeping items that I really liked, and only ones that are still in really good condition. I am ONE size away from fitting my largest collection of old small clothes. I'm getting really impatient to fit into them. An old pair of shapely jeans is fitting me and looks fantastic, but it's a little more snug that I would like to wear all day long so I'm holding off until it feels like a normal fit. -- Spring LC since 1/1/04 260/208/170 http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/spr...=/55b8&.src=ph Size: 24W / 14 / 10 |

Jim Jim, the clothes you threw out probably weren't fashionable anymore. Don't sweat it. Some of the outdoor gear is what I miss most. The down vest and the polyester vest that would pack down into a small stuff sack not much bigger than two handsfull. Those two I miss a lot... and they were in stylish lightweight blue nylon taffeta. Trimmed with classic arm holes and YKK metal zippers that always worked. -- ................................ The last time I was this small was right after my son was born. I threw out
a bunch of stuff, but kept about 4 or 5 things that I loved so much I couldn't bear to give away. I plan to wear a dress that I kept (never wore it before because it didn't look right, but DH says it looks great now) probably for the first day of school on Tuesday. In February I gave away most of my 'fat' clothes, but I hung onto about 6 outfits, not because I ever plan to wear them again, but because they were relatively new, expensive, and I don't want to just give them to GoodWill. Anybody know someone in a size 26/28 who needs dressy clothing in great condition? -- Linda 296/206/160 LC since Oct. 13, 2003 http://home.att.net/~lewis_linda/index.html "jbuch" wrote in message ...
