Good news and BAD news. Can i get advice?
The Good News:
This week i did some experimenting, and after a pizza hut visit tuesday, where i ate about five or six pieces of pepperoni lovers pizza (at 29g of carbs each), i did not gain at all, i returned to the regular induction style thta i was on the next day, however i did have some pretty strong sugar cravings, and i gave in with about a tbsp of oreo ice cream, but have been junk free since thursday. The bad news: I am no longer losing weight doing an atkins induction style diet. I have all the benefits of the diet (like supressed appetite, more energy etc), but i am not losing without doing anything other than changing eating habits. When i started, i recon i was between 185-190 lbs, standing five feet 7.5 inches tall. I am now 168 lbs, and still have fat on my stomach. Now i am looking for advice. I am wondering where i should go from here. I want to get into doing some training. I have been reading a few books on pilaties, and think i will try that, as well as some weight training, but nothing heavy, because i do not want to shock myself and feel terrible, as i seem to do in the past. My waist is thinner, i am probably a 35 or a 34 now in waist. and great news!, i am considered normal for my BMI according to the calculator on the CDC webpage! how awesome is that?!? I know i can lose the little bit i have less, i know i can get the body i want, the chest, abs, arms, etc, but i just need some advice from someone who has been there, y'know? Thanks alot. Steve |

How long is it since you last lost weight? This is not including the water weight you may have gained carbing up on pizza. How long have you been low carbing? You do give good advice, but you are such a jerk in doing it, I don't need that, so I will just ignore you like I do JC... I need to consider my own self, I can listen to you put me down, or I can just ignore you. David Yes, that is what I figured. Man, I need to find myself a decently priced gym. Everything around me is upwards of $75 a month, and right now money wise, this isn't something I can just shell out. Until then, I can always do resistance training at home, that will cost almost nothing aside from a few small purchases to get me started. Thanks for the advice, as bluntly put as it is ;-) |

mistook the who-said-what part) included: but i am not losing without doing anything other than :: changing eating habits. Once you said that, I think you did open the door for people to comment about exercise -- some gently, some "tough love." I don't know about gyms and such, but nearly every article I have *ever* read stated that walking is a great way to get used to exercising. (Also, if any of you are ever in NC, I'll lend you my dogs -- I guarantee that walking these 2 gals will provide a fair amount of "resistance training"!) Well, I walk alot. I don't own a vehicle, and do not drive, I take public transportation, and I do so in Canada no less. It is COLD here, so when I walk, I walk fast to get to shelter (cold means -25F at night sometimes). I think that I will get into doing cardio first, and as I said, resistance training is a good thing for me to look into. there is a popular women's only gym in Canada that offers a 1 year contract at only $22 or so us a month. Its women only, but its a great deal for them. I don't understand why its more for men in almost all cases. It seems unfair, but its a common belief that it is harder for women than men to get into going to the gym, etc. Perhaps that is true, I cant say personally. |
