Default The awareness of what we put in our mouths?....Was Grocery store prison

Ours has gone downhill too. They used to have a great chicken stirfry on the
WW menu. That's gone and replaced by a very dry grilled chicken sandwich.
yuck. I do like the tilapia dish but our local mexican place does a better
job so we go there instead for fish.

The WW menu was great when it came out.. but it started with the veggies
and went downhill from there..

There were 3 pineapple wedges but it just wasn't satisfying...Applebee's
in our area is not very good...Although they are great at illusion
marketing they are a lousy restaurant in my opinion...Oh well..The
journey continues...GG

All good ideas...The reality is that although many of us do care...Many
still do not...The fast food and grocery stores want us to eat...To
eat in huge portions...Many burger places offer 1 lb hamburgers with
fries Burger King offers a triple whopper with cheese 1200+ calories
close to 1600 mgs of sodium and 81 grams of fat...Does anyone really
need to eat like that...Well I did and never thought much about it ...I
ate like this for many years...I remember stopping at my local 7-11 and
getting a package of Hostess cupcakes or snowballs not realizing that
the package was 700 calories...About half of my daily intake today...No
wonder many of us suffer from obesity...We were raised that way...And
of course if we ate it quickly and tossed the wrappers and no one saw
us it would be even better...I went to Applebee's the other day knowing
from their marketing in WW to try a new portabella sandwich...Funny
that when I looked at the picture I would never have know it was half
the size of any other sandwich they offer...It wasn't bad just
interesting...Had I noticed the small strawberry in the corner of the
picture I might have been aware of it's true size...My brother ordered
the cowboy burger and fries and gave me a look when they arrived
together...I think the awareness of just what we eat is critical in
achieving success over this monster...Well I have gone on long
enough...Always enjoy the journey...GG

Gary

One of these days I am going to write a letter to Applebees. Why should
the portabella sandwich be small when we know we can make one for a low
number of points and it can be big and filling. They could have added a
very nice sized portion of strawberries and/or other fruit and that
would be one point for the fruit portion. I tried just one of their WW
offerings and was just turned off because it wasn't satisfying.

That doesn't mean I want or need supersized portions. I just want a bit
of common sense to be used. On my green salad this evening I can put
lettuce, radishes, tomatoes, green onions, carrot, celery, a few cooked
green beans because I need to use them, sliced mushrooms, and have a
nice presentation of food to eat with my pomegranate vinegar from Trader
Joe's.

Oh, well, it definitely is a journey.

I get the camels soup at hand, or fruit or sometimes I get so grossed out
that I am no longer hungry, and in a real pinch fruit or vegetable

juice,
the salads are not bad, avoid dressing and all have nutrition and most

are
on the WW data base, Lee

I may have made this comment before but I'm curious how you

feel...After
losing quite a bit of weight I now try and make every food decision the

best
possible...I often eat out and have no problem making any meal
compatible...But if I want to stop at a 7-11 or similar market I spend

so
much time reading labels and rarely finding a reasonable

substitute...The
other day I stopped to look and thought that even some baked chips

would
be
fine but this market is in a Hispanic area and the clerk says that no

one
was interested in them (that's another issue)...All the sandwiches were

not
labeled with nutrition information which I would need to make a
decision...After looking at most of the store I walked out with an
apple...Most fast food is now a turn off but I understand the salads

are
OK...Anyway know of any quick stop answers?...I guess yogurt and

similar
milk based products would work...I follow core and do try and avoid

bread
but sometimes I enjoy a sandwich...Anyway...Always enjoy the

journey...GG
