Default Feeling better

Well, I got up early and attempted to go to Curves. I woke up optimistic
today and tried to work out for the first since I got very sick this week.
Unfortunately, I couldn't do more then 1 round before I started going into
coughing and wheezing fits. I am frustrated because I am not ready for it
yet and will have to wait a few more days. I just finished my last Z-Pack
pill (zithromax) yesterday.

Anyway, I did get measured and lost another 15 inches since last month! 28
all together! The (literally) biggest area that I am excited about is 9
inches total off of my abdomen in 2 months!

I gotta say - YOU ROCK!!! I am especially impressed by the stats at the end
of the post...
I'm a nurse, and although I'm a newbie, I have concluded that the worst
thing a person could do themselves is: SMOKE, and be obese. I'm not judging,
seriously. Just stating that the health risks are huge and devastating in
both cases.
Perple, you've managed to tackle both those issues, and win! Way to go!

Hi I,

What are you referring to when you say: That's normal.

You're right, I need to exercise and feel bad that I haven't been. It is
just hard to when I can't breath.....

That's normal, do not let it deter you from exercising. Do anything
you can to get your heart rate up -- walking, swimming whatever.

That is not why I am out of breath... I was very sick last week with upper
resp and my lungs still have a little gunk in them. I thought I was ready
to go back yesterday, but kept coughing up gunk. The ZPack I mentioned is
an antibiotic medicine that I just finished to help me get better. I've
been going to Curves for 2 months and usually don't get that out of breath
anymore.

I'll try again tomorrow.

It is normal to be out of breath if you weigh so much and have not
been exercising. Just the laws of physics. Try still exercising to the
point when you are close to being out of breath, but not actually out
of breath. That would help your aerobic capacity.

Just yesterday I had to move a few tons of landscaping supplies that
we bought for our garden. In particular I was carrying 50 lb sacks of
gravel and they were kind of heavy. And I reflected that I lost 46
lbs, and thought how difficult it was for me to carry that weight on
my all the time. You are a woman and have even more to lose, so no
wonder that even simple exercise is difficult. And that's why it is so
necessary!

I was laid up with a respiratory thing a while back and I found that when I
could actually move and take a slow walk, going to Curves was a good way to
just get all of my body moving AND help bring up all that stuff in the
lungs. I would do a couple of stations, take a coughing break, and then go
back.
The great thing about Curves is that you can tone down the intensity very
easily. And carry a tissue for the gunk . You're making the attempt to
keep moving and that's really all that counts right now when you're sick
because you really don't want to overdo it and make the illness worse and
yet you don't want to use being sick as an excuse to not do anything when
you actually can do a little.

Hey Jenn,

I did do one round on the machines yesterday, so 12 minutes is better then
no minutes I guess. You're right. I just want to get myself 100% better
before my trip to San Diego to train for my new job. I found out that I am
leaving Monday night instead of Tuesday night, but I'll be back on Friday.
I'll go back to the gym tomorrow and work out and get my travel card in case
there is a Curves near hotel. If not, the hotel should have a gym that will
suffice.

Glad you found something that is working for you. I've tried all you list
except the SinoFresh. I checked out their website and it doesn't seem to
be available in my area I'm always looking for something that will help
with my sinus problems.

I have finally found a drug coctail that is working with my sinus
issue.

Clariton for the antihistimine.
SinoFresh (www.sinofresh.com) to clean the sinuses out.
Afrin to keep the sinuses clear.
Aleve for the sinus headache

2 days of breathing clear. Although my ears are still a bit clogged
and you can hear it in my voice, I can BREATH again, and I can sleep
again, and that leads to feeling better, and not feeling like death
warmed over.

I do a sinus irrigation every morning and sometimes at night. Warm
water, saline and squeeze bottle. It's important to remove the
medium for baterial growth.

I am glad you are feeling better! I got you beat for # of medicines being
used...

This is what I am taking:

Z-pac for sinus infection
Cortisone shot yesterday
Allegra for antihistimine
Guaifenesin to help me cough up this junk
Afrin so I can breath
Advil for headache
Albuterol to help with wheezing and breathing
Advair to help with wheezing and breathing

I am still feeling pretty crappy, but have just been on meds since
yesterday. I could barely talk at work today which sucked since my job
involves talking a lot...
