Nonsense.

Correct there is no sense at all in counting calories other than an
education in how much you are overconsuming.

Or where your consumption is relative to where it was.

Nonsense. Has it occured to you that perhaps these studies didn't involve
LC dieters who had appetite suppression working for them along with
exercise? Are you suggesting that the mere process of counting calories is
going to make someone not lose weight and not keep weight off?

And where is the data for those who keep weight off my any means? How much
better is it?

The worst thing one can do in a diet ng is go around quoting failure stats
that are more often than not used out-of-context.

Apparently, you're unable to think for yourself.

Agree.

First, the counting of cals is at best an inaccurate methodology.
Second, very few keep it up for any extended time so it has no
lifelong value. Third, even if you could count accurately, whose to
say you have accurately measured or know the food volumes you have
consumed. Not every 4 ounce piece of this or that has exactly this
amount of cals. And was that 4 ounces or 4.1239 or 3.892?

Lastly, who in their right mind would want to be a slave to a calorie
counting regimen in the first place?

And counting carbs (or anything else) is different in what way?

None.

You don't seem to get it.

The purpose of counting calories is not necessarily to restrict or control.
The purpose of counting calories is to find out "where you have been", just
as counting carbs and recording exercise activity tells you "where you have
been". But my main purpose in counting calories is to make sure that I stay
somewhere within the range I have set for myself. If I inadvertently eat
less than 1000 calories per day, that tells me I need to adjust upward If
I eat over 2000 calories per day, I need to adjust accordingly. Failure to
do so will soon show up on my scales or general health and attitude.

Too few calories will result in poor health and starvation. Too many will
result in weight gain. There's no 'new math' that's going to get you around
that.
