Default New to the program

I had a question about my weight loss. I am currently five three and 206
pounds. I have hired a personal trainer at my club to work with me, but have
become very discouraged. It has been three weeks and I have gone through a
yo-yo. I am working weights three times a week and doing forty-five minutes
of cardio five times a week. I was put on a 1900 calorie a day diet. Okay,
so anyhow my orginal weight was 207, then I went up to 210, then down to 204,
and now am back up to 206. Why? My trainer just says that it takes a woman
about a month for their metabolism to kick in and then I will start losing
the pounds. Is this true or is he just trying to keep me hanging on so that
I can keep paying him all this money to stay overweight? I would appreciate
any help and advice that you have to offer. I put on eighty pounds having my
two babies in two years and am having serious doubts that you can ever come
back around.

P.S. I have lost almost two inches in my chest and one inch in my waist......
..........I hope this is a good sign.

Loved the calories burned commentg

It's not unusual to gain a few pounds when you start an exercise
program. I normally gain 3-5 pounds the first week or two after
intensifying my exercise program

Oops.... hit the post key too soon.

The loss of inches is a very good indicator that your exercise program
is working.

Congratulations on the babies and for taking the necessary steps to
lose the weight. Stick with the exercise and diet and you should start
seeing results soon. The number on that scale is not the only way to
measure success. You also want to concentrate on reducing the body
fat.

I also am 5' 3" and my current weight is 200. I have lost 68 lbs in
the last year, not as much as I wanted, but still enough to feel
successful. I am on WW and FWIW, the number of points I am allowed per
day is 26, or approximately 1300 calories. Like Ig said, I think 1900
calories a day may be too much for you to lose weight.

I applaud you for trying to tackle the exercise problem with a trainer. At
least you are taking the first steps. Hopefully your trainer is a good one.
I do agree though it does take some time to have your body adapt to the
exercise program. Don't concentrate so much on the weight initially. You
add muscle quicker than you burn fat off at the beginning.

It could take 6-8 weeks before it starts coming off freely. I feel though
that will depend on your diet. You have to stick with a sound nutritional
program for this to work faster. It will work but all three components
(cardio, strength training, and diet) have to be working efficiently.

Stick with it. You can do it.
