Good News Bad News
Hi Everyone,
The Good News is that I had a great first week back in the fold and lost 3.3 which is an amazing amount for me. I usually lose about .5 lb. Thanks to all of you who posted and gave me encouragement.....I know that was what made my comeback so successful! The bad news is that my kids and I just found out that my ex-husband has cancer and we are devastated! I am trying to help him get treatment and help the kids cope at the same time getting through it myself. And I have to be careful not to overdo because of my own illness. My weight loss journey seems unimportant at the moment because of this new concern, and I also feel like LIFE keeps getting in the way of my focusing on it. Latey, the broken ankle, the flu, and now to top it all THIS! It's easy to use life's problems as a reason to overeat and not exercise. However one thing I have learned after a lifetime of weight "control" is that if you wait for life to be unstressful to begin a healthy eating and exercise regime you might as well FORGET IT. Life has it's ups and downs and one has to get through..........I intend to try to stick to the plan and not get off course, as hard as that sounds to me at the moment. My ignoring my health is not going to help anyone and I am betting that I will be less depressed when the smoke clears, if I have lost instead of gained. That said, I am now rushing to exercise off the 3 chocolate cookies I ate, before I gave myself this pep talk. Thanks again for being here! Billie 207/167.7/141 |

Joyce, what a wonderful response to Billie's post! I've been wondering what
support I could offer, and I read your post. Ditto from me, Billie! Hugs for the great loss, bigger hugs for the hard stuff! -- Wendy http://griffinsflight.com/Quilting/quilt1.htm de-fang email address to reply "Joyce" wrote in message ... Congrats on the 3.3 whoosh this week, that's fantastic! I am sorry to hear about your ex. Just hearing that dreaded *c* word is devastating, I remember when we went through it when hubby was diagnosed (who is doing fantastically well 10 years later). I understand how you may think that your weightloss doesn't seem important in comparison, but I think you could also use it as a motivator. What better reason to keep on going to make yourself healthier, than to insure your kids are going to have a healthy YOU! They definitely are going to need you now, as they fight their own battles with feelings and stress. You might try doing what hubby and I did when he was first diagnosed. We allowed ourselves a specific period of time to feel sorry for ourselves, cry, and have our own pity parties. Then we kicked butt and decided to tackle the problem with a positive attitude and as much humor as we could muster. I've been told by many Drs. that medical treatments are definitely necessary, but attitudes also play a significant role. I am sending my wishes for the best, to all of you. Congratulations on losing that 3.3. What a horrible time you've been having
lately but I was glad to read that you are still following program. Hope things improve for you and yours in the near future.
