Default Food & Exercise -- 7/30/2007

Did my usual gym stuff this morning, then made a quick grocery store
stop. We were supposed to put out moth traps this afternoon at the
conservancy, but cancelled due to thunderstorms. For the same reason,
I couldn't go to the pool. I spent an hour or so this evening doing
some fairly heavy work in the house. We've got some trash hauling
people coming on Friday and are working on cleaning out years of
accumulated junk (mostly DH's fault :-) ) from the basement. So we
spent about an hour tonight hauling stuff outdoors -- larger things
like old lawn furniture, obsolete electronic equipment, etc. More of
this to come the rest of the week :-).

Food:

* 7:45 (home): oatmeal w/ peanut butter, flax seed, & dried
cranberries
* 10:45 (gym, between lifting & yoga): energy breakfast bar
* 1:30 (home): turkey breast burger on whole wheat bun w/ 3 slices f/f
cheese, dill pickle, & catsup
* 4:00 (home): 1 square dark chocolate
* 8:00 (home): large salad w/ greens, veggies, kidney beans, 5 oz.
canned tuna, a little feta cheese, f/f sesame soy vinaigrette; 1
square dark chocolate; 2 glasses wine (malbec)

Exercise:

* 10:00: Lifting: chin-up negatives; bent-over barbell rows; bench
press; DB flys; seated DB shoulder press; DB curls; DB overhead
triceps extension on decine bench
* 11:00: 75-minute yoga class -- focus on core

+ ~1 hour fairly heavy work clearing the basement

Hey Chris,

Have you considered Freecycle? I know that here in Ithaca the Freecycle
group is very popular, especially with the transient student population.
I signed up through yahoo, and I"ve been able to unload a bit of stuff
without hauling it to the mission or the landfill.

Just a thought...

This is worth thinking about when we get down to things that are
actually still usable. So far, I think what we're getting rid of is
really junk. None of the stuff actually works or anything. And our 7
cats have rather had their way with some of it, I'm afraid :-). But
we do have things we'll want to get rid of that have value. I was
thinking charities, but there's something to be said for giving it to
people who will pick it up :-).

We're doing this clean-up partly just because it's long overdue, and
partly because we envision moving somewhere else a few years from now
(now that we've retired), and we're certainly not going to buy another
5000 sq. ft. house and take all our lifetime's worth of accumulated
stuff with us.
