You do realise alcohol oxidises into acetaldehyde then ketone bodies & burns much faster & more cleanly than carbs? gtoomey 1. Alcohol metabolism can contribute to lipogenesis. If you're trying to lose fat then you're not. http://www.elmhurst.edu/~chm/vchembo...lcoholmet.html i dont need proof of that. im losing weight too quickly because im essentially following JC's advice and havent had a real meal in close to two weeks now. i dont care how it metabolises because my weight loss isnt the biggest thing on my mind. So JC tells you to jump off of a bridge you... 2. If you're trying to alleviate stress, then why lurk/read/post on asdl-c? Why not spend time with DH instead? there is nothing i want more, but i only get a few hours a day to visit DH, and theres a bunch of worrysome things going on with that. im hardly a lurker, queenie would be happier if i was. i am a low carber, i like the people here and the conversations... its an unmoderated newsgroup, why cant i read and chat? Right now it sounds like your a no-carber. No food. Booze only. There's a name for it. Wait it'll come to me. 3. Using alcohol to "relax" can be habit forming. i have an extremely low tolerance to alcohol, so i'm the cheap date, one drink and im pretty much gone. i dont like getting drunk, i never get that way, i just want to relax a little bit. folks have a glass of wine (or whatever) with dinner, im entitled if i so choose. however, i do appreciate your concern. One drink and you're done? So you'll only drink half? 4. Why are you "due" to drink alcohol? Have you been building up no-alcohol-consumption points? i was on antidepressants for over 10 years. because of the meds, it greatly amplified the drunk feeling and i didnt like it. i probably had 20 drinks in my entire life. im not building up points, i just want a drink, and i want to know whats safe to have. 10 years of antidepressants explains a lot. Good luck to you. You have too many issues that have absolutely nothing to do with low-carbing that will negatively affect your ability to perform same. thanks. -- _____________________________ This be Tia's SIG!!! Try a Scotch and soda or plain water, with a twist of lime. That's what I
used to drink when I wanted to have a few but not get a hangover. In om, tia stated | i dont like wine, or beer... just something mixed with a diet cola or | diet sprite or something would do nicely. like i said, i dont do the | alcohol thing much, just wanted a quick something or other. | | -- | _____________________________ | This be Tia's SIG!!! In fact, instead of typing here, she should work on forcing some food down. If you can't handle solid food, try a protein shake or something. |

I think several people on this group should be in therapy. And no, that was not directed at you. Marsha/Ohio |
