Being Hungry is a Virtue.
Alec Baldwin said that the other night on a talk show. He's right. If you are not hungry for at least part of each day, then you are eating too much. |

(How's that for a definite statement). I'm not sure I have actually been hungry often enough to really recognize the feeling. When I have actually been hungry, I think that something is wrong. That's probably why I am overweight to start with. New Guy |

Being Hungry is a Virtue.
Oddly enough, since I went low carb, I don't recall being very hungry
very often at all, and I managed to lose 20 lbs eating like a friggin' king. And before that, when I ate high carb and low fat, I was hungry all the time trying to lose weight by cutting fat and calories and all I did was get fatter. Hungry - got fatter, no hunger- lose 20 lbs. Go figure. I guess my virtues are less obvious. TC WM wrote: Alec Baldwin said that the other night on a talk show. He's right. "WM" wrote in message ... I believe you, but there are two separate and mutually exclusive issues at work for you. 1. Daily Hunger being a virtue which is worth striving for - 2. Low Carb Eating - I have no doubt that if you had also dedicated part of your energy to attaining hunger on a daily basis during the same period you low carbed and lost the 20 pounds, you would have lost 30 pounds. 20 pounds of what? |

Good point (i totally agree that body comp is really important). However, much of that can be influenced by lifting heavy a couple or three times a week and paying particular attention to amount of protein in a (calorie reduction) diet. This may not be your own personal experience, but, believe it or not, many people have to actually experience some serious hunger to lose some major fat, low carb plan or not. |

Being Hungry is a Virtue.
If the Shadow knows it, it must be true ;-)
You gotta be ****ting me. I missed the part of his "Inside the Actor's Studio" where he talked about becoming a nutrionist, a doctor, or anything other than an actor. I'd just as soon take Tom Cruise's ill informed opinion on antidepressants as take diet advice from Alec Baldwin. I am not hungry hardly ever anymore. I have lost in excess of 40 lbs while doing so. Does the enlightened Mr. Baldwin believe *I* am eating too much? Balderdash. As we all know, mileage varies. I suspect that if you have inadequate protein and fat intake and don't feel hungry, you are probably eating too much, but this is unqualified junk. -Hollywood 264/222.5/218 LC Since 7/20/05 And rarely hungry since 7/24/05 WM wrote: Alec Baldwin said that the other night on a talk show. I know exactly what you mean. Before LC I would have a big meal and a few hours later, I'd already be ready for a snack. Now, even as dinner time approaches, I can easily eat at 6PM or wait until 9PM without really being very hungry. |

I was doing a very restricted self imposed diet before low carb, so I can deal with hunger. I changed to a LC diet because I believe it's healthy and safer than any alternatives. Some people may feel the need to be hungry, especially women who don't want to put on any muscle. People lose weight based on what works for them. |
