hi
This group used to be pretty active 5 or so years ago. Anyway, I thought I'd stick my head out. I'm trying to lose weight, the low-calorie way. I just cannot do atkins, it will literally kill me. Anyone else on the wagon??? Heather -- "I don't think the President should have taken responsibility.... I don't blame the President. I blame the American people. Y'all knew the man was slow when you voted him in. You can't blame the blind man for wrecking your car when you're the one who gave him the keys." ~Wanda Sykes |

Hey, guys. My prob isn't just a calorie thing, but also a general balance thing. Plus, I just started college and living in the dorm sucks when you're trying to watch your weight. Not saying I've gained so much or anything, but my pants were def way tighter after about a month of being here. I found this book, The Dorm Room Diet, and I don't think you need to be in college for it to be relevant. I've lost 8 pounds in the last 5 weeks! And actually, it's not even like I've made huge changes to my diet- I just know more about what I'm putting in my body...it's made me more conscious of what I put in my body and the effects it'll have on me.

hi
Hi there, That sounds like a to read book...I will check out our library
and see if it will work for me.....You would think not being able to eat Wheat, Oats, Rye and Barley that I would not have to worry about gaining the pounds but I sure do the older I get the more pounds I keep. Good luck with whatever you are studying..... Happy Holidays |

hi
Hi Babs. My thing is I really don't have time for recipes. I need
convenience. But if you run across any good ones I'd love to hear them anyway, lol. I'm definitely trying to get this flab off, though. I've never had a problem losing before, but it's kind of depressing where I live and I have to fight to keep from using food as a comfort. Anyway, nice to meet you. hi
Hello Heather:
If you're looking for convenience, then go to the supermarket and in the frozen food section pick up the frozen meals like Lean Cuisine. I did that and lost 25 pounds. I kept track of everything I put in my mouth and put myself on 1200 to 1500 calories per day. Using a pre-made frozen dinner was easy to help me with portion control and calories - and there are many options available - you don' have to just buy Lean Cuisine. I also allowed myself one day a week to have anything I wanted to eat and I chose Friday and called if Fat Friday. This way I did not feel deprived. I no longer do this, but have managed to keep the weight off for 5 months now and if I feel that I'm creeping back up I just go back to eating the frozen foods until I get back to the "goaL" weight I set for myself.
