If a bunch of doctors are going over "fad diet" and either Atkins
or South Beach are in their list, then they haven't read either
book and they are spouting nonsense. This sort of show gets
a changed channel on the spot.

the loaded with the red meats was my comment

And since that's incorrect it's time to put other low carb books
on your reading list.

I hope you understand that nonsense claims like "loaded with
the red meats" are the sort of trash ASDLC regulars have been
encountering for years. It becomes one of the buttons after a
while. Independent of the fact that I don't eat any more red
meat on Atkins than I did before I started (the reason it's a
nonsense claim), red meat is beneficial.

which pertains to things that was said during the TV program.

Check.

I can only
assume the doctors had to of read the Atkins Diet book to be able to
do the show.

By the way, this is a false assumption. Doctors on or off TV often
spout nonsense about books they haven't read. Having that MD
quailifies them as experts on everything doncha know ... Sigh.
Doctors get so little nutritional training in med school it's
disgusting.
And they get no mandatory updates on the topic either. Some keep
up, some don't.

Great place it is here to be able to comment and share your opionion
but being a newbie here I guess I had better learn to slow down some
and stop taking short cuts.. its not like anyone is a mind reader
here.. or are they?

That and I'm a pain in the butt when it comes to describing plan X
as it actually is in its book. What's actually in any of the popular
books is far better than random comments going around about them.

Switching to SBD, what's a part of the plan that when you read the
book you didn't believe it or didn't understand it, but when you tried
it out of faith it worked great? Authors work on these books over a
decade to come up with such parts that beat anything obvious.

It is the expert consensus that got us into this mess.

Truer words were never spoken. LOL.

I'm still reading Taubes "Good Calories, Bad Calories," and the description
of how the so-called medical consensus re the effectiveness of low-fat, high
carb diets became gospel is TRULY scary.

Coincidentally, I'm also reading Bob Woodward's "State of Denial," which
illustrates how the Iraq war became such an immense disaster. Just as scary.

Needless to say, I've become pretty pessimestic re the ability of any group
of "experts," in any field, to come to any accurate consensus or effectively
execute any supposedly beneficial plan.

You're kidding, right?

Probably just wishful thinking.
